We began Thursday with the hope of seeing our friends, Rich and Marnie (RORVR managers), some time in the afternoon. They had a friend from out of town visiting, and they wanted to show her around Borrego Springs. By mid morning TLE had received a text that they were on their way. I was in the process of getting TLE's bike out so she could ride it around in the dirt a little before we took off on a ride down to the dry lake bed, so I put the bike away, and we got ready to drive into town. Since the eBay auctions for three of my Seiko watches had closed Wednesday I had packaged the two for which I had been paid for delivery to the Post Office when we went into town to see our friends.
We arrived in downtown Borrego Springs around 10:40 am knowing our friends would be in town between 11 am, and 12 pm. Our first stop....I'm sure you are not surprised....was the Frugal Coyote Thrift Store.......
TLE posing with Mr. F. Coyote himself
.....on this day, which has become more rare, we did not find anything without which we could not live, but I was sorely tempted on more than one item. From the Frugal Coyote we walked over to the USPS to deliver the two eBay packages for shipment, then back to Bighorn Fudge for a cup o' Joe awaiting a text from Marnie as to their imminent arrival. Within 30 minutes we got the text they were in town and heading for Kendall's Cafe.......
.....they arrived shortly after we did, and we had their friend, Beth, take a picture of our two Beetles side by side......
.....we, of course, sat in their al fresco dining section enjoying great conversation, and food for almost two hours. We bid our adieus, and headed back across the street to Center Market to pick up a few grocery items, before returning to our desert oasis......
....shortly after arriving home we took that desert ride we had planned for the morning. In all we rode a little over three miles reconfirming TLE's dislike for riding offroad.....:-) We will take the bikes out on the asphalt Friday for a ride into town which I am quite sure will be more to her liking.
By the time I put away the bikes it was almost 4:30 pm, and time for another sunset fire......
.....the sunset came and went, but the fire lingered for almost an hour........as I sit by the fire puffing on a cigar and slowing sipping my Scotch I can feel my mind perceptively slowing down. My thoughts are not of the past, or of the future, but delightfully of the present....I'm just 'being' present, and I love that feeling....
The 'waxing' moon over Anza Borrego
......as I was locking up for the night I saw the waxing moon just over our flags, and I am thinking...."Yeah......another day well lived in the Anza Borrego!"
