And then there were none....

7:35 am - Friday - November 12th - Fontana, CA - 75° F, 25% humidity, wind 14 mph out of the north.....crystal, clear, blue skies today as the Santa Ana condition continues with a forecast high of 88° F.  On this date in 2015 TLE and I were camping at Rincon Parkway just north of Ventura, CA.....right next to the seawall.......↴

The Santa Ana winds never blew hard Wednesday night/Thursday morning,  but you could feel the warmth of the high desert air blowing into the Pomona Valley over Cajon Pass wafting through our open windows all night long.  It never got below 72° F in our room that night....I think I spent most of the night sleeping outside the covers.  It is rare when we sleep with all the windows open, and we have been doing that a lot lately.  Kind of a nice change from our  time at SRRVC where I sometimes left my bedroom window open a crack at night, but never really that often.

We had planned to take a walk on the PET in the morning, but I had noticed while I was grilling the salmon filet Wednesday night that the cooling fan on our Norcold pull out refrigerator was not coming on, and as a result, the temp was hovering at just over 41° F....usually is somewhere between 33 and 38° F.  I then noticed that the red 'ERROR' light was flashing twice every 5 seconds, so I got out the manual to see what that meant.  It turns out that two sequential flashes means either the fan is not working, or there is low/high voltage preventing the fan from running.  Well, Thursday morning I decided to troubleshoot the issue to see what was wrong.  I have a voltage tester I can plug into the cigarette lighter adapter in the through bay and it was reading over 13 volts, so I knew it could not be low, or high voltage.  I next unscrewed the front panel to see if power was getting to the fan, and after checking for loose connections I checked the fan to find out it was getting power, so I was pretty sure the issue was a faulty fan.  Our owners manual indicates our unit comes with a 2 year warranty, and as luck would have it we bought if 18 months ago, so were well within the warranty period.  I then called Norcold and went over the symptoms with one of the technicians, and what I done to isolate the possible problem.  After some discussion he agreed with me that the fan had failed, and agreed to ship me a new fan free of charge....cool!

By this time it was well after 10 am, and getting ever warmer, and windier, so TLE and I decided not to take a walk.  We spent most of the day inside enjoying our air conditioning, but did venture out for about an hour around 2 pm to do some grocery shopping, and buy a wall hook for our two beach chairs.  Since we left Oregon the chairs have been stowed in the rear of the Beetle along with our suit cases.  We don't want to continue to do that so a few days ago we repacked our through bin, and managed to get both suitcases in there with room to spare.  The two beach chairs will hang on the new hook in the trailer, now that we have more room in there.

We turned on our A/C around 11:50 am, and were able to turn it off by 4:20 pm, so it only ran for 4.5 hours....not too bad.  It is almost the middle of November, and it begins to cool pretty quickly when the sun goes behind the apartment building to the west of the Elks Lodge.

Oh, and before I forget, we sold the Cannondale Tandem bike, and the guy who bought it off Facebook Marketplace came to pick it up around 12:30 pm, so now there is nothing left to sell, donate, or throw away.  It's been a long 17 days, but we are completely, and officially now done with our warehouse stuff.

  1. 17 days to empty the warehouse of things that took a lot longer to acquire.
I found that getting rid of the stuff I saved from when I first "cleaned out" was really hard to do. Congratulations!

    1. Hey Rob! There were a lot of hard decisions, and many of them took a couple of weeks before we made the inevitable choices. Thank you for your comment!
