7:39 am - Thursday - November 11th - Fontana, CA - 72° F, 30% humidity, wind 10 mph out of the north.....another mild Santa Ana condition is here, and with that a warming spell over the next 5 days.....forecast highs for the next 5 days are: 86° F today, 90° F Friday through Sunday, and 86° F on Monday. From there it dips into the 70's for the foreseeable future. On this date in 2012 TLE and I were visiting the Maker's Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky....↴
First thing, and I mean first thing, Wednesday morning TLE and I took another bike ride out the PET.....
.....we covered just over 11 miles at an average speed of 10.9 mph in just 61 minutes, burning 245 caloric units. The Strava program takes into account the use of an eBike for the ride, thus reducing the calories burned accordingly.
We had a few loose ends to 'tie up' in the trailer, so after our ride I decided to remove one of the two folding tables in the trailer, fold it, and then stow it in the 'through bin' in the Newell. There were some things (loose ends) still left in the donate pile in the trailer, but before I could put them in the VW I needed, desperately, to vacuum out the entire interior of the VW. I don't think I've done that since we arrived in Coupeville. Once that was done the rest of the 'donate' pile went into the hatch, and we were off to the local Goodwill on Sierra down near Interstate 10. The contrast from 16 days ago to now is startling.....
The trailer interior with everything from the warehouse.....we couldn't even put the bikes in the trailer
The contrast with 16 days ago is remarkable (the table left is the one holding my tool bags....it won't be stowed until the day before we leave)
....while we were at it we decided to do a little junking at that store, as well as the Salvation Army store across the street. I did not find anything without which I could not live, but TLE found a couple of blouses that actually look quite fetching on her.
By the time we returned from our forays it was closing in on 3 pm. Around 4:30 pm I lit the Sea-B-Que and grilled a salmon filet to which TLE added some steamed white rice, and a salad. I think we've actually used the Sea-B-Que three times now that we are back in warmer, non rainy, non windy conditions.
Our near future plan is to remain here at the Fontana/Rialto Elks Lodge until next Tuesday (11/16) at which time we will reposition our equipment out to the Riverside Elks Lodge for a week before heading out to the desert. We're waiting until Tuesday which is when the current heat spell ends. They only offer 20 amp service at the Riverside Elks Lodge, and we want to be able to operate both of our A/C's, if need be, over the next 5 days without fear of tripping a breaker. We'll spend Thanksgiving weekend with our kids at Ocotillo Wells (near the Salton Sea), and then head up to Borrego springs for a month of boondocking.
