7:49 am - Thursday - August 24th - LPG&RVR - 55° F, 66% humidity, wind 1 mph out of the southeast......mostly sunny skies today with a forecast high of 85° F. On this date in 2022 TLE and I were in Tahoe City celebrating our 51st wedding anniversary a week early....↴
.....we have returned to Lake Tahoe often over the now almost 52 years of marriage. Lake Tahoe is where we spent our honeymoon back in 1971. The memories of the wonderful times we have had at Tahoe fill my mind each time we return.
I haven't played 18 holes on back to back days ever in my life, but Wednesday I did just that, but I get ahead of myself. I had a haircut appointment in Alturas at Kaleidescope scheduled for 9:30 am Wednesday, so TLE and I were in the Beetle driving into Alturas by 9 am. We arrived there just before 9:25 am, and I was out of the chair 10 minutes later after getting a trim from Sheila. After a quick stop at Holiday Market to pick up a few items we were on our way back home to LPG&RVR arriving there just after 10:30 am. By 11 am Charles and I were teeing off at the first hole.
As is often the case with the game of golf, it is very difficult to be consistent, and Wednesday was a day of inconsistency for both Charles and I, but we did have our bright moments when we both reached the 15th green (par 4, dog leg right) in two shots. Charles (the green ball in the picture below) placed his second shot about 2 feet from the hole, while I was about 15 feet away. Charles made his birdie, and I made par, just missing my birdie putt......
....in all I had 5, or 6 pars Wednesday, and a bunch of bogies, so it was a good day for me all in all. While my driving was a little inconsistent at times, I was hitting my fairway woods much, much more consistently, and they saved me a few strokes over the course of the day. I hit three of the four par 3 holes in regulation, so my irons were working pretty well......
.....TLE brought her putter and practiced putting on most of the holes. She and Phyllis found pretty much all of the balls that we hit into the brush, and I think I only lost one ball, which I hit in the water on the 12th hole.....
.....at any rate, the most important part of the day was that we were all still smiling on the 18th hole......
.....after putting away our clubs, and changing clothes we convened to the 'lower deck' for some snacks, and more conversation bidding each other adieu for the evening around 6 pm.
My back is holding up pretty well after playing 36 holes in two days, and I'm hoping it will do just as well Thursday when Charles and I play another 18 holes. Yup, that is correct......for the first time in my life I'll play 18 holes on three consecutive days. The only way to get better at golf is to play as often as you can, and I am finally doing that.
Thanks for stopping by!
