5:18 am - Friday - August 25th - LPG&RVR - 56° F, humidity 78%, wind 2 mph out of the southeast......clear, blue skies today with a forecast high of 85° F. On this date in 2013 TLE and I were having lunch at Mukilteo Coffee Roasters on Whidbey Island, WA.....↴
By 10 am Thursday morning Charles and I were teeing off the 1st tee for another round of 18 holes for the third consecutive day. I've always had this theory that if you play golf often enough you can become somewhat proficient, and consistent, and I was interested to see if playing 54 holes in 3 days would tender any results. I began the day with a par at the 1st hole, a bogey at the second and third holes. I doubled the 4th, but came back with a par at the 5th hole, another double on the 6th, and then parred the 7th and 8th holes, with a bogey on the 9th. On the back 9 I was just 5 over par, had a birdie on the 12th hole, and parred 4 of the last 5 holes......I barely missed parring all 5....it was just one of those magical days when I was hitting the ball straight off the tee, hitting my fairway woods long, and straight, and was spot on with my short irons. With a tad bit better putting I could have posted 3 birdies on the day, but my ball came up one rotation short of going in the hole twice. Charles also showed significant improvement. With the girls along to find errant balls I lost zero balls, and I think Charles may have lost one. We actually played the 18 holes in just over 4 hours, which is mute testimony to how well we both played. The two previous days it took us over 5 hours.
As I sit here typing this morning my back feels great, and with it doing so well I think I'll be playing more golf the last 6 weeks we are here, especially since it is cooling down much faster this summer than last.
Golf pretty much took up most of the day, but for our last meal before Charles and Phyllis depart LPG&RVR we ate on the 'lower deck', and talked until after 7:30 pm before the mosquitoes chased us inside for the night. I'll be going to work at 6:30 am Friday so I was in bed by 9 pm, with TLE following a short time later.
Thanks for stopping by!
