7:37 am - Monday - August 21st - LPG&RVR - 58° F, humidity 89%, wind 4 mph out of the west by southwest......heavy cloud cover with rain since 1 am....still raining today. Forecast high is just 64° F. Should continue to rain until late this afternoon. The view this morning......↴
......on this date in 2017 TLE and I were hiking to the top of Bunsen Peak in Yellowstone NP to watch the total eclipse of the sun.....one of the coolest experiences we have ever had. Hiked with wonderful friends Roscoe, Geni and Dodge (Kristen) with whom we worked in the Yellowstone General Store in Mammoth Hot Springs...↴
The forecast high for Sunday was just 74° F, so there was no serious need for me to go in early to beat the 'heat', but I went to work at 7 am anyway, so I could be off by 4 pm, and catch up on typing my blog. See how I sacrifice for you, my audience? Just kidding....not really a sacrifice to get off work at 4 pm.
I was at work at the aforementioned 7 am to find the 14 golf carts left over from Saturday awaiting their daily spa treatment, so got busy washing them. Based on the tee time sheet for Sunday I staged 14 golf carts initially, and by the end of the day 13 had been rented, so I was pretty close.
After a very busy Friday and Saturday I was looking forward to a much more relaxed Sunday, and that is what I got. The skies were filled with beautiful, white, puffy clouds all day. As I was making my first round of the course I stopped at the 14th hole to take a few pictures to memorialize how beautiful it was.....
Looking east, down the 14th fairway, toward the Warner Mountains
.....we have two rarely used Bocce Ball Courts here at LPG&RVR and the sign that points one toward those courts had been blown over in the wind a few days ago, breaking into three pieces, so Dennis (owner) asked me if I could fix it. I told him I could, so I drove over to my garage to retrieve some long clamps, and some wood glue to put it back together. A few hours later, after the glue had dried sufficiently I cut 6 short strips of plumbers tape to hold the three pieces together in case the glue fails at some future date. I placed them on the back side of the sign over the now glued cracks like bandaids using short, self tapping screws to hold them in place. Once that was done I rehung the sign, and it looked pretty good. To bad I neglected to take a picture of it.....lol!
It had been a while since I dragged the cart path leading from the 2nd, and 11th holes to the 3rd, and 12th holes, as well as the cart path from the 4th hole up to the 5th hole, by the restroom, as well as the downhill cart path at the tee boxes for hole 6, so I hooked up the screen to the back of the cart we use to pick golf balls from the driving range around 10 am, and began to do just that. When I returned around 11:30 am I still had 30 minutes before TLE's lunch break so I dragged the gravel road which runs along employee row before dropping the screen back at its storage area, and returning the cart.
I took my normal 1 hour lunch break before heading back to work at 2 pm with just 2 hours to go in my day. I wanted to be on duty late enough to get as many of the carts washed and put away as possible for Walt when he returns to work on Monday. Eleven of the 13 rented carts had been returned, so I washed them, and put them away, and that would be it for washing carts as the guys who rented the other two were playing 36 holes, meaning they would not return until after 5:30 pm.
As you know, I was homed by 4 pm, and sitting at my computer by 4:10 pm writing about Friday and Saturday. I finished right at 4:55 pm, just in time to return to the office to pick up TLE, and begin our 4 day weekend. Sunday was a very relaxed, laid back kind of day, for which I am grateful! We went to bed knowing that rain was coming around 1 am, and that is exactly when it began to rain....as I write it is still raining, and is expected to continue until late this afternoon.
Thanks for stopping by!
