Another milestone......

7:38 am - Friday - February 21st - TWW - 32° F, humidity 61%, wind 7 mph out of the east.....partly cloudy skies today with a forecast high of 57° F.  The view this morning.....

....on this date in 2013 TLE and I we're at a shooting range near Stuart, FL with Ernie Prociw, a friend from college.....

Another thing I've wanted to see completed here at TWW is the installation of the 2,500 gallon water tank out by our orchard (nut and fruit trees), and Thursday it finally happened.  Charles and I met mid morning out at the pad we've been building for the tank to do the final assembly, and then move the tank from its resting place of 6, or 7 months to its final resting place.  It took us about an hour to lay out the boards, screw them into place, and then we were ready to move the tank.  It was definitely a four person job to move the tank, and frankly I thought it would be much harder than it was,  within 10 minutes the tank was on the new pad, and ready to be filled.....

Smiles of triumph

....once the tank was set Charles began to install the various fitting which will enable us to fill the tank, and then open the valve to water the trees.  During the winter the trees get 160 gallons once a week, and during the summer they get watered twice a week, so the 2,500 gallon tank will take care of that for a few months during the winter, and just under 2 months during the summer.  We'll put a timer on the water outlet so it will become a hands off operation at some point in the near future.

Charles and I spent the afternoon patching together the necessary fittings for the tank, watering operation.  The PVC pipe has already been laid through the orchard to water each tree, so it is just a matter of hooking that system up to the tank.....

.....I'm not sure if I've ever posted a picture of the actual orchard, so here it (above) is.  The trees are already beginning to leaf out again, and look very healthy.

Around 4 pm we convened in the house for our daily meal together.....

....the ladies prepared a wonderful meatloaf with sides of manicotti, and broccoli....

At this table sits over 300 years of life experience....I think we're doing pretty well for a bunch of old farts....lol!

....Thursday was a very good day, and marks another milestone in our work here at The Wilson Wilderness this winter.  Things are really beginning shape up in a hurry now!

Thanks for stopping by!
