6:57 am - Wednesday - March 12th - TWW - 37° F, humidity 86%, wind 6 mph out of the south by southeast.....partly cloudy today with a forecast high of 43° F with winds into the mid 20's. On this date in 2012 TLE and I were in Palacios, TX at Bayside RV Park on the Gulf of America.....
....we'd been on the road for almost 6 weeks at the beginning of our full time adventure. Had to drop the trailer to park in this spot.
I have to say that my left shoulder was feeling dramatically better Tuesday morning, less than 24 hours after my visit to the KRMC Emergency room. I still don't know what the issue is, and hopefully I will get more clarity on that Wednesday, but my range of motion has increased dramatically. To be sure, it is still very tender, but I'm not crippled anymore. I really can't do any lifting, or any work for that matter, but I can walk around pretty much pain free now.
I may have mentioned that I was put in contact with a welder (Brian) by the owner of the Seligman Market, and he came by last week to look at the job I had for him (install a receiver hitch on the 1969 Chevrolet C-50 dump bed truck, as well as 'new' mufflers). Well, I received the 20,000 pound rated receiver tube late last week, and Brian made an appointment to do the work for Tuesday. He arrived right on time at 8:30 am, and quickly got to work. By 2:30 pm the new receiver was installed, as well as both mufflers......
.....he first drilled holes in the rear plate, the affixed the receiver using 1/2" grade 8 bolts, then welded it in place. The mufflers were actually the easy part of the job. He had to cut off the old ones, which were essentially empty cans, then tack welded on the 'new' stainless steel ones. I'm going to purchase the appropriate muffler clamps and install them over the tack welds at a later date. At any rate, the truck is so, so much quieter now! Brian did a terrific job, and now I'm talking to him about fabricating removable metal sides for the dump bed.
Charles and Phyllis arrived for another 2 day stay Tuesday afternoon. Normally they'd be here for 3-4 days, but more snow is forecast beginning Thursday afternoon, into Friday, so they'll be leaving Thursday morning leaving us 'alone' to face the 'wrath' of Mother Nature....lol. I don't blame them, because when it snows, or rains here you really won't want to be driving any of the roads around here for 48 hours, as they get quite muddy.
I didn't do much Tuesday except occasional supervisorial visits throughout the day to the Chevrolet C-50 to see how Brian was doing. We had our usual communal dinner in the house around 3:30, or 4 pm, and were home by 6 pm. In about an hour TLE and I will be leaving (Wednesday morning) to make the drive into Flagstaff to get an MRI done on my left shoulder at Flagstaff Bone and Joint (orthopedists), so I will bid you adieu for now. Hopefully, the MRI will reveal the cause of the pain I've been dealing with since last Friday. Getting old has its complications, shall we say?
Thanks for stopping by!
