Oregon coastline south of Cannon Beach
Our first stop of the day was Hug Point. Hug Point was used by stagecoach drivers to deliver passenger to Arch Cape. This road bed was cut by unknown persons around the turn of the century (1900). The only other way at that time to reach Arch Cape was via boat. The stagecoach drivers had to time their journey past this point with the low tide, obviously. The name of the point came from the need to "HUG THE POINT" to get to Arch Cape.
There were a number of caves like this.
The Oregon coastline is just amazing
After Hug Point we continued south through Manzanita Beach, Nehalem, Wheeler to Rockaway Beach where we parked and took a walk around the town. We visited a local antique shop called the Frugal Crow and spent some time browsing before heading back north.
Elaine said there were a couple of antique stores in Wheeler which was back north of Rockaway Beach, so we headed there. We spent a couple of hours browsing a couple of shops there (Wheeler Station and Richfield Antiques) and Elaine bought a few books, and I bought a cool vintage pipe wrench.
Our view from the deck of the Tsunami Bar and Grill of the Nehalem River...............
We headed back north to HWY 26 around 5pm.....again, with big smiles on our faces. Another day of memories made.
Thanks for stopping by!
