7:49 am - Wednesday - January 13th - Seal Rock, OR - 41° F, 100% humidity, wind - CALM....finally! Rain stopped a few hours ago, and no rain forecast for today, with a high of 52° F....I can actually see some blue sky overhead as I write. On this date in 2016 we were on our way from Borrego Springs to the Indio Elks Lodge with friends Steve and Linda, and Mike and Lizzie after 12 days boondocking.......↴
Steven Dempsey took this picture as they passed us going northbound on SR-86 near the Salton Sea, CA
The rain fell relentlessly all day Tuesday, and the wind blew with a ferocity we had not previously seen here in Seal Rock, OR. At times the coach rocked with such severity it felt like an earthquake was in progress. For our part we just huddled inside our Newell thankful we were warm and dry. Most of the time we love that our lifestyle brings us in close contact with nature, but there are some days, like Tuesday, it was a little unnerving.
TLE worked from 10 am to a little after 12 pm, and I went out with Blake in the golf cart for an hour at 11 am to check for storm damage at each of our sites, plus the two homes on the property. All was well, but we did get a little wet as the wind blew sideways into the cart.
Unfortunately it became apparent shortly after I arrived home that dumping the black tank could not wait until Wednesday when it would NOT be raining, so I headed back outside to spend about 20 minutes getting a little wetter, while clearing the effluent from our black tank for another 8-10 days of use.
The day was conducive to lots of reading throughout the rest of the day, and a great beef/barley stew for dinner courtesy TLE's Vita Clay Pot, as the rain and wind continued without a break.
We continue to be asymptomatic to the Wuhan Flu, and happy to be living here in Seal Rock, OR in spite of the weather conditions the last 6 weeks. The Newell continues to remain level, and all of our appliances are working as they should....for what more could we ask?
