Minus 5.5

8:12 am - Thursday - February 10th - Newell House, AZ - 54° F, 21% humidity, wind 8 mph out of the northeast.....clear, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 80° F.....we're in the middle of a 5 day warming trend, but by Monday things will begin to cool once again. On this date in 2013 we took a boat to Cabbage Key, FL with TLE's cousin Gail, and her husband Jimmy......↴

For the first time in 10 days I spent most of Wednesday relaxing.  I did take about an hour to re-glue the three Formica panels in the microwave cabinet (former) using, this time, Hi Temp adhesive I purchased on Amazon.  When I used the 3M adhesive I had given no thought to the fact the Breville would generate heat, and that might affect the efficacy of the 3M adhesive.....in short, it did.  Within a day, or two all three panels were loose....doh!  This time I applied the Hi Temp adhesive to both surfaces (the cabinet and Formica pieces), installed them, and then applied pressure to all three panels for the better part of 24 hours, and now (as of this morning) they seem to be staying in place.  The acid test will be the next few times TLE uses the Breville, but I'm feeling mildly optimistic.

After 10 days it was also time to dump the black tank, so while the Formica was curing, I did that as well as refilled our fresh water tank.  We used about 70 of the 140 gallons in the tank while inside Newell House for almost 9 days, and the gray water tank was about 2/3 full. Once my water bay work was done I reinstalled the 4 wheel covers to protect the new shine I applied to the ALCOA's on Monday.

For good measure TLE and I did two more speed walking sessions around Newell House (10 am and 2 pm) totaling another two miles.  The essence to weight loss is to move more, and eat less, which we have been doing since we arrived at Newell House.  To date I am down 5.5 pounds, and am very happy with my progress.  TLE is doing well, also, but I shall leave her results a mystery for now.  Maintaining a healthy weight is one of the difficult to do things of the our nomadic lifestyle....at least it has been for us.  If you have been reading my blog for a few years now you know this weight loss thing is a cyclical thing for us.  You know we love micro breweries, and good food, which is cool, but one needs to remain adequately active to counteract all of those culinary delights which are around every corner.

I spent most of the afternoon napping, and puttering around.  My multitudinous aches and pains from the 7 days of projects, mostly under the Newell, are fading quickly now.  My shoulders were especially painful for several days after I finished installing the shocks and airbags, but as of Wednesday the pain is becoming a distant memory.

TLE went into Tom and Darlene's to play cards with Darlene around 5:30 pm, so around 6 pm I walked over to the Jacuzzi for a 30 minute soak.....this was my view......

.....that is where I live.....that is my home....how lucky am I?

  1. I find keeping the weight down is not easy in the winter for me. It is harder to walk and no gardening in MO because of the cold. cA was much easier. We do like good food, a good drink but doesn’t have an effect on Dan’s weight—skinny as ever. I enjoy your blog and travels. We are off to CO next week to visit family! We do love a good road trip!
