More hanging out....

7:09 am - Wednesday - 05/01/2024 - LPG&RVR - 24° F, humidity 65%, wind 1 mph out of the north by northwest....crystal clear, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 57° F.  On this date in 2014 I finally finished the installation of the new rear bumper on the Newell....I wrote about this a few days ago....love the before and after.....

Tuesday dawned with blustery winds, and the temp at 29° F....the low exactly one year ago on April 30th was 47° F.  TLE had her annual eye exam Tuesday morning at 8:40 am, so she left around 8 am to make the drive into Alturas, and I remained behind to spend time with Claude.  Even though it was sunny, it was bitter cold, but in spite of the cold we stood outside (all bundled up, of course) talking until TLE returned sometime after 10 am....time flies!

Around noon time we drove up to Alturas to visit a friend of Claude's who lives on a moderately sized ranch just south of town.  On the property was this old COE (cab over engine) GMC dump truck of which I just had to take pictures....love that patina.....

.....after a tour of the property and house we all headed into town around 3 pm to the Lazy 'B' BBQ place we've eaten at previously.  We talked, and laughed for over an hour before bidding adieu to Claude's friend, and heading back to LPG&RVR.  None of us was able to finish our orders, so doggie boxes were in order.  Claude and I had the brisket taco plate, and TLE the Diablo Burger.  Both were smothered in jalapeños!

We spent more time visiting with Claude that evening knowing he was leaving Wednesday morning to continue his drive to visit his 104 year old mother in Oregon.  We've had a great 4 days with Claude, and saying our until next times will, as always, be bittersweet.

Thanks for stopping by!
