Winter's grip.....

6:59 am - Tuesday - May 7th - LPG&RVR - 33° F, humidity 79%, wind 6 mph out of the north by northwest.....heavy cloud cover today with a forecast high of 52° F.  On this date in 2018 TLE and I were visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.....

I think we're into 3rd, or 4th winter now, and any kind of warm weather is still 5 days into the future.  Right now we're stuck with daily highs around 52° F, and lows in the high 20's.  It was only a couple of weeks ago that I was taking naps in my anti gravity recliner on the 'lido deck, and the temps were in the 70's.  Monday was our Friday this work cycle, and we were on the job by 7:45 am.  TLE always has something to do in the office, but I sat twiddling my thumbs for about an hour as it was just too cold to do anything outdoors.  Around 9 am the sun came out briefly....

I see a shadow!  The sun must be out!

Ahhhhh....there's she is!

.....however, just as fast as the sun broke through, she was swallowed up by mother winter within minutes.  Maybe it is extremely cold, but doesn't that golf course look beautiful?

Around 9:15 am I headed out to make my first, and only round of the course Monday.  The geese and ducks were busy overnight, and I had my work cut out for me on the #3 tee boxes.  For the first time ever I found goose/duck leavings on the tee boxes for the 13th hole, as well as the 3rd and 12th greens.    I also found considerable leavings on the tee boxes for the 8th and 9th holes....I have never, ever found them on those tee boxes.  On the fairway for the 4th hole I fond 3 deer grazing....nothing to clean up here....

....once I was back at the Clubhouse I spent about 20 minutes warming my extremities before heading back outdoors to drag the interior roads for the RV park, as well as the pull through sites, which were not occupied.  With all the rain lately we had a lot of tire ruts, which needed to be smoothed over.  I managed to get about 70% of that done before TLE's lunch break.  By 1 pm the grass in the RV park had dried sufficiently to allow me to mow.  I managed to get the large grass area by site #30 mowed, plus the grass in pull through sites 26-30, as well as 34-45 before I headed down to the night office to mow the large grass area which surrounds it.  That took me up to 3:45 pm, which would normally have been my quitting time, but I still had to wash and put away 5 golf carts, as well as haul all the grass cuttings to the cow pasture from al the mowing I had done, so I put away the large Husqvarna, and took care of those duties.  By the time I finished it was 5 pm, and time to retrieve TLE from the Clubhouse and head for home to begin our 4 day weekend.

It appears that by Friday we'll have our first 70° day in 10 days, and it looks good for the weekend, plus into next week.  Maybe Spring will finally pry the cold, bony fingers of Winter away from LPG&RVR, and we can begin to enjoy more Spring like days....hopefully!

Thanks for stopping by!
