Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area

We got up Tuesday morning around 7am, and after a couple of cups of coffee we departed for a 2 mile walk along Bear River and back.  Nice cool, crisp morning for a walk!  There is a great walking/bike path that runs along the river for several miles, and the next time we are here for more than an overnight we will take out our bikes and ride that trail.

After our walk we had a quick breakfast, and then began to break camp.  Since we only had 110 miles to drive this day we decided not to leave until around Noon.  Our first stop after departing the park was the Super Walmart a few blocks away, and then the Discount Liquor store, which was right next door.

As we eased on to the east bound lanes of I-80 it was around 11:45am....I love it when a plan comes together.  Just Like Monday, the cruising along I-80 was effortless.  Even with climbs up over 7,000 feet the coach ran like a champ, and I only had to drop out of cruise control a few times.

We kept seeing signs for "Little America", which we had passed when we came through here west bound in May, but didn't take the time to stop.  One sign in particular caught our attention.....50 cent soft serve icecream cones.....well who can resist 10 signs proclaiming this over and over again, so we exited the Interstate at Little America and got those 50 cent cones!  Hmmmmmm good!

From Little America it was only another 13 miles to Green River, our exit, and then 24 miles south on SR 530 to Buckboard Lane.  Our plan was to spend a several days at Buckboard Crossing, then move over to the east side of Flaming Gorge Reservoir to dry camp.  We were led to believe that Buckboard Crossing (a National Forest Campground.....hmmm, no forest around here at all) had water and electricity at several sites, but those sites only had electricity.  On top of that the cell signal was horrible....I couldn't use my hotspot, and phone calls kept dropping, although I was able to get e-mail periodically.  So, we decided quickly that we would only stay there 2 days, and then move next door to Buckboard Marina where they had FULL hookups, and I could actually get a 3G signal.

 Our site for 2 days - A-16

 Sunset the first night

I took the first two pictures above from the water tower about a quarter mile from our site where I walked to get a 3G signal so I could pay a bill online due the next day.  Frankly, if they had water at our site we might have just walked over to the Marina each day to get our internet fix, but I knew I would have to move the coach in a couple of days to refill the water tank, so why not move next door for only $8 more per day, and closer to the water?  A final plus is the Marina has 65' pull spots which means I would not have to unhook the trailer as I did at the Crossing (see above picture).

Today, Thursday, we made our move to the Marina, and just love our spot....and the view, if that is possible, is actually slightly better, too!  I am posting this blog update using my Verizon Hotspot and have 3 bars of 3G, so life is good, and I am reconnected with the outside world again.  We will stay here 4 days and then move over to the east side for a few days.

We are expecting friends to arrive anytime who also own a later model Newell (1996 I believe), and will spend some time with them.

The temperatures have been around 81 (high) each day, and today it will be high 70's with cloud cover.  The air is dry, and it is so quiet you can hear a pin drop.....I had to ask TLE to stop dropping so many pins......lol!

I will add pictures of our new location later today, so check back when you have time!
