What's in the mail?

7:47 am - Tuesday - March 19th - Fontana, CA - 55º F, 64% humidity, wind 1 mph out of the north by northeast........partly cloudy today with a forecast high of 74º F.

We headed over to my son, Chris' office to pick up our mail mid morning Monday.  Chris and I shared his office for about 8 years before TLE and I retired and began our nomadic journey.  He agreed to receive our mail, and periodically forward it to us when we had a mailing address.  He screens out the junk mail, and only forwards what we need......it has worked well now for 7 years.  We don't get a lot of important mail anymore, and like most people today, pay 98% of our bills online.  The mail we do need to see are the annual bills for our vehicle registration (VW and Newell), and the new tags when issued by the DMV.  Of course, there are medical bills, which comprised most of our mail on this day.  Fortunately, the amounts due are small, as Medicare covers most costs.  For example, the total bill for the anesthesia for my 'butt' operation was $1,050, but my share was only $42.58......not bad, huh?

We also picked up two area rugs TLE had ordered to replace the two large red ones in the salon.  As soon as we returned home she began to remove the furniture, and all the rugs rugs, including the old ones, then cleaned the entire floor.  She discovered that a couple of the vinyl planks had moved a little, and needed to be pulled up and re-glued in place......that's my job, so I got to work......

The planks removed, and the area masked with blue masking tape before the Scotch Spray Adhesive is applied

.......I had the planks removed and replaced within 30 minutes, and then TLE laid down the new area rugs, and I helped her bring back in the furniture.....

.....we decided to deviate from the red rugs we have been using for 10 years now, and add a little color......I like the change, how about you?

By the time we finished it was getting warm, and time to close the windows and turn on our A/C once again.  Thankfully, the remaining days this week will see temps dipping back into the mid 60's again.  A couple of days ago we deployed our sun screen which is attached to the patio awning to keep the afternoon sun off the passenger side of the coach.  Then Monday we deployed the end piece to further block the afternoon sun......I am so glad we have these options.....

......TLE made these sun screen using her sewing machine about 8 years ago, and they have really done the job!

Around 4 pm I went out to the trailer to install a new 12 volt LED ceiling light to add more brightness.  I only use the 12 volt LED lights when we are dry camping, or boondocking, but they need to be much brighter.  When we were in Wittmann my friend Tom had just purchased some of these LED lights, and I was amazed at how bright they were....

 The old LED light

The new LED light.....much, much brighter!

....I managed to get one installed by 5:30 pm, and called it a day at that point.  I'll install the other one on Wednesday.   And that was our afternoon.  We watched some recorded programs before heading for dreamland.
