Closed.......

7:28 am - Saturday - May 9th - Page, AZ - 65° F, 16% humidity, wind 2 mph out of the north by northwest......partly cloudy skies today with a forecast high of 87° F, but we will not experience that as we roll our wheels in 2 hours....where to next?  On this day in 2018 we were walking around Salem, MA.....

As we continue or summer trek northward we hope to find some National and State parks open, but so far here in Page, AZ the only things open are Horseshoe Bend National Monument, and viewing Glen Canyon Dam, so that is what we did Friday.....

.......since we were last at Horseshoe Bend the parking lot has been paved, a very nice entrance with pay kiosks has been built,a much longer, more scenic, meandering path has been built, along with a concrete viewing platform so you can get a shot of this iconic scene without falling off the cliff.....

The path down to the vista point

......now it is much easier to get the entire shot while practicing social distancing from the edge of disaster......

If you watch as I zoom in on the beach below you can see people camping there, and it appears there is a pit toilet structure there as well.....cool.

....we took a leisurely stroll down to the viewing platform, got our pictures, and then began the walk back to our car......

distancing per the sign to my immediate right in this picture

.....next up was Glen Canyon Dam created in 1963......

Is that grass at the base of the dam?

.....we next headed for Lone Rock Beach, where we boondocked for a week back in early November, 2017 only to find the entrance blocked off with K-Rails.  I had heard that the Lake Powell beaches were open on the Arizona side of the lake, but apparently Utah has not opened this beach yet.  With that mild disappointment our tour of the available attractions in Page, AZ was complete, so we headed for home.  We will be rolling our wheels Saturday morning heading northeast to a place we last visited in 2015.....hang on, because here we go!
