The Tax Man......

8:02 am - Sunday - May 16th - Seal Rock, OR - 46° F, 93% humidity, wind - zero mph out of the north.....cloudy this morning with clearing later today and a forecast high of 57° F.  On this date one year ago we had just arrived in Durango, CO......↴

With 'Tax Day' (May 17th) looming I had no choice but to dedicate Real Saturday to getting those pesky 2020 taxes done.  Being retired, not owning any real estate any longer, and having no need to itemize my deductions means I can fill out the EZ tax forms, and it really doesn't take much time, other than gathering together all the necessary W-2's, and SSA 1099's.  Once the Federal 1040 form is complete the California one is a breeze, and by noontime I had finished the 1040.  I'll let it sit overnight, then review it Sunday morning to be sure I made no mistakes, then quickly crank out the California 540 form and I'm done for another year.  I really do not miss the days of completing 4, or 5 1040 schedules.  Way back when we were first married I used H & R Block to prepare our taxes, but the second year we used them they made a mistake, and we got audited....not a pleasant experience.  Since that year (1973) I have done our taxes every single year and not once were we audited during that time.

Taxman by the Beatles....from the Revolver Album, circa 1966

The recently ever present wind continued on Real Saturday, and although it was cold outside I did manage to do a little outside work, the main task being cleaning all the exterior surfaces of our windows of which there are 13....it's a good thing I'm not superstitious.....lol!  Beyond that I puttered around in the trailer for a while, and reorganized one of my hanging closets which is at the rear of our bedroom in the driver side left rear corner of the coach.  Every time I went in there to retrieve something I began to realize that I had not worn about half the things in there for months, and months....perhaps over a year.  It was really getting crowded in there, especially with the addition of my new wedding suit, and shoes.  When I take something out of the closet I take it out to the trailer where we have a clothes rack strung across the rear of the trailer....

....the picture above shows this closet AFTER I removed things I had not worn in a long, long time....you can only imagine how crowded it was before.  TLE and I each have two hanging closets.  My main hanging closet it as the foot of the bed on the driver side of the coach.....

.....it is pretty full, but it works for me.  Here is a picture of the hanging rack at the rear of the trailer......

.....I know, there is a lot of stuff at the rear of the trailer right now.  We are going to have to do some serious paring down before we leave at the end of September!  Anyway, you can see the clothing bags where we store clothing we are not using until we decide we need it again, or decide to donate it back to Goodwill, or some local thrift shop.  Most of our clothing has been acquired at thrift stores all around the country.

That was our Saturday....thanks for stopping by!
