You're going to need a longer screw........

8:21 am - Friday - May 7th - Seal Rock, OR - 48° F, 76% humidity, wind - zero mph out of the the north.......cloudy today with a forecast high of 53° F.  Rained most of the night.  On this date in 2013 TLE and I were touring the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum......↴

When I opened the salon curtains Thursday morning the first thing I noticed was that the entrance sign I had attempted to repair Wednesday had fallen from its perch once again.....it was windy early Thursday morning, and the words I uttered to TLE shortly after rehanging the sign, "I'm not sure it will stand up to a brisk wind", came back to haunt me.  I had a suspicion those screws were not long enough!  Well, one thing that almost always solves that problem is really, really long screws.  I retrieved the golf cart around 9 am and drove up to the tool shed to browse through our fastener selection, and found some great wood screws which were about 6" long.  There were only 6 of them, so I had to be sure to use them judiciously.  It took about 30 minutes to rehang the sign using the 6" screws, and as of this morning (Friday) the sign is still where it should be.  Unfortunately, just about the time I finished fixing the sign it began to rain, and my day was over.

I barely got back to the coach when the skies opened up in earnest, and the winds freshened, but the sign was still there.  Thursdays, as you know, are now split shift days for TLE (10 am to 12 pm, and 2 pm to 4 pm).  She arrived home shortly after noon time dodging raindrops all the way.

Our sunset Thursday was a little muted, but still worth memorializing with a photograph.....

.....by the way, the official sunset time now is 8:27 pm, with sunrise continuing the creep backward to 5:58 am.....that early sunrise sure makes it easier to wake up every morning.  It rained on and off all day Thursday, into the night, and it was still raining around 3 am Friday morning.
