7:27 am - Saturday - June 10th - LPG&RVR - 51° F, humidity 74%, wind 1 mph out of the north by northwest.....crystal clear, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 74° F. On this date in 2013 TLE and I were in West Salem, Wisconsin.......↴
The rain came earlier than expected.....7:30 am to be exact. Not a great way to begin a day, but as my Dad often said to me....."It's not how you start out, it's how you end that counts". Our tee time sheet was pretty full with golfers scheduled to go out at 8 am, and every 15 minutes after that through 11 am. I was skeptical that anyone would begin the day playing golf in the rain, but I guess I don't know golfers very well. Nevertheless, I initially put out 10 golf carts....enough to get us through the first couple of hours, and then made a quick round of the golf course. As I drove it continued to sprinkle, and sometimes rain, but it wasn't very windy, so I didn't get too wet. I found one flag blown down (hole 14), but otherwise the course was in fine shape for our Friday crowd.
Eventually I staged 25 carts, and then sent three more Yamahas out for a second round, so 28 carts in all went out Friday.....one of our best Friday's going back to last year that I can remember. The weather steadily improved throughout the morning, and by the afternoon we had mostly clear skies. By the time TLE and I headed home just after 5 pm it was so nice we sat on the 'viewing deck' until almost 7 pm enjoying some adult beverages, some great music, and balmy evening breezes. I never would have thought Friday evening would be that nice based on the way the day began.
On the 'viewing deck'
I did manage to finally get the tee boxes for 16 and 17 mowed, and also mowed the large pavilion grass, and the large grass area adjacent to site #30, as well as 3 of the full hookup pull through sites before I ran out of time, and had to begin washing, and putting away the carts which had been returned. All but 4 of the 28 returned before 5 pm, so Walt will get to take care of those first thing Saturday.
For a change, although it was inevitable, Friday was really our Friday. Now we will have a four day weekend involving no travel to Redding, or Klamath Falls. I'm playing in the Likely Fire Department Golf Tournament this morning (Saturday), so I need to get dressed, hit a few balls, and be ready to tee off at 9 am. Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by!
