7:29 am - Saturday - September 9th - LPG&RVR - 46° F, 70% humidity, wind 3 mph out of the southeast.....crystal clear, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 82° F. On this date in 2020 TLE and I were spending a few days in Forks, WA at the Forks Elks Lodge on our way to Seal Rock, OR to spend a year camp hosting.....↴
Before I get into Friday's happenings I need to wish TLE HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! She is celebrating the 45th anniversary of her 29th birthday.....
What a gorgeous woman!
As I mentioned in yesterday's missive, TLE received a call from the Klamath Eye Center to set the date for her second cataract surgery while we were playing golf Thursday. They sent a prescription to the Rite Aid in Alturas for the two sets of eye drops she must begin taking Monday morning, so we needed to drive back into Alturas Friday to pick up that prescription as we will both be working Monday, and she needs to begin taking them Monday morning. She called Rite Aid around 9 am to confirm the prescription was ready, and it was, so within minutes we were on our way, northbound on US-395 for the 40 minute round trip drive.
We were home around 10:30 am, and by 11:15 am we were at the 10th tee where I teed off for the second consecutive day to play 18. The front 9 was kind of busy Friday around 11 am, so I chose to play the back 9 first, and finish on the front 9. My hope was that I would play more consistently Friday, and that hope was realized. I parred 6, or 7 holes, and ended up shooting an 88....44 on the back 9, and 44 on the front 9......my second time shooting under 90. You might remember that my goal, as a 74 year old guy, is to play bogey golf, which is averaging 1 over par per hole, which would be a 90 on this course. When I'm playing well enough to play bogey golf, or better, I'm having a good time, and that is really what it is all about. I didn't lose one ball Friday, which is a first for me. I was on course to shoot an 86, which would be a record for me, but my back began to stiffen on the last 3 holes, and I messed up a few short iron shots with which I normally do not have an issue.
I played well enough that we played the 18 holes in 3.5 hours....that's pretty quick for me....lol! After finishing the 18 holes, and dropping TLE off at the coach, I spent about 45 minutes on the putting green, in preparation for the weekly putting contest on Saturday, before heading home myself. After a long, hot shower to loosen my back up I took some vitamin 'T' (Tylenol) for my back, then went outside to spend some time on the 'viewing deck', listening to some music, smoking a cigar, and sipping an adult beverage.....TLE forewent the 'viewing deck' as her allergies were making her eyes water.
We had another pleasant sunset Friday night.....
