6:18 am - Monday - September 11th - LPG&RVR - 43° F, humidity 64%, wind 1 mph out of the southeast......clear, blue skies today (still dark) with a forecast high of 84° F. On this date in 2017 TLE and I were visiting my sister (Hilary), and brother-in-law (Bob) at a Dude ranch near Jackson Hole, watching the sun set over the Grand Tetons......↴
Sunday is always a mixed bag as many people are leaving the park to return to their workaday lives. Sometimes it is very quiet, like first thing this Sunday, and sometimes, on a long weekend, it is very hectic from beginning to end. I prefer 'quiet', especially when it is the first day of my four day work week. I staged 4 of the Club Car electrics (one of the 5 has a bad battery, so we're not using it until the new batter arrives) as there were only a few people signed up to play golf. I was half way around the golf course on my first round when I got a call from TLE that she needed more carts as more people wanted to play golf. By the time I returned she had already pulled a few more carts out of the shed, and by the time I finished adding more carts we had rented out 14, or 15 carts in all.
I made a couple more rounds of the course over the course of the morning, as we had a lot of people out on the course to supervise. I returned to the Clubhouse around 11:45 am, and sent TLE home early for lunch. During the time I was giving TLE her break one of our blog readers, Ed Seidel stopped by to meet me. He's been following our blog since our initial gig at Amazon back in the Fall of 2012. We chatted for about 20 minutes, during which time I completely forgot to take an 'usie'. Ed is 10 years my senior, and I hope I look as good as he does in 10 years! Coincidentally, Ed has been coming to Likely Place for many years, so we were bound to run into each other eventually.
After taking my 1 hour lunch, I returned to find 7 of the 15 carts had been returned, and by 4:40 pm all but 4 had returned to the fold. I washed the first 7, then made another couple rounds of the course. By 4 pm another 4 had returned, leaving just the 4 I mentioned earlier. While I waited for TLE to close down the office, I putted for a while.
The nights are getting longer, and longer as we move to the middle of September now, and the overnight lows are consistently in the low to mid 40's. The 'heat of the day' is lasting a couple of hours before it begins to cool quite quickly. We've only a few weeks left in our sojourn here, and are beginning to think about rolling our wheels again.
By the way, still asymptomatic to the Wuhan flu after 3.5 years! I don't think I've heard mention of anyone coming down with it here in Modoc county in a year. Rural living is definitely safer than big city living.
Thanks for stopping by!
