Tuesdays and Fridays......

7:41 am - Wednesday -September 6th - LPG&RVR - 51° F,  humidity 68%, wind 2 mph out of the south by southeast.......mostly sunny today with a forecast high of 79° F.  On this date in 2014 I was photographing the Fresnel Lens at Cape Blanco Lighthouse near Port Orford, OR....that little tiny bulb magnified by the Fresnel Lens can be seen 26 miles out to sea......there are two bulbs....only one is lit at a time.....if one burns out the mechanism rotates the new bulb into position, and turns it on......↴

It occurred to me that I have made no mention of the passing of music industry icon Jimmy Buffett at the tender age of 76 a few days ago.  His iconic 'Margaritaville' is an anthem to which we all sing along, and I love that song, but my favorite Jimmy Buffett song has always been 'Cheeseburger in Paradise'.....enjoy.....

'Cheeseburger in Paradise' - Jimmy Buffett

Tuesday was our 'Friday' this week.  It was the slowest day since we arrived back on April 12th.  We rented 9 carts in all the entire day.  On slow days, which are rare this season, I look for a project, or two I can spend time completing.  There is large patch of goat head weeds, also known as puncture weeds growing  between sites 6 & 7 for a while.  They spread out along the ground, and covered around 300 square feet.  Goat head thorns puncture tires (bicycle and golf cart) with ease, and on top of that the thorn is also the seed.  It can attach itself to the souls of shoes, or to your clothing, and that is how it spreads its 'evil'....lol.  I took the hula hoe, and a leaf rake and headed over to site 6 around 9 am to eradicate the goat heads (as much as is possible), and finished bagging up the last of them around 10:30 am.  We bag them, and put them in the dumpsters to prevent them from spreading any further.  In all I filled three 55 gallon trash bags with the buggers.

I spent time repairing the windshield on Yamaha cart #13.  It is a split window affair, with the top half folding down, if desired, to allow air to flow through the cart.  The plastic hinge was the worse for wear, so I drilled some holes, and installed aluminum rivets to repair it.  In all that took about 45 minutes.  I've been wanting to get those two projects done for quite some time.  Once that was done I made a round of the course to find all was well....how much can go wrong with only 10 golfers on the course?

I didn't have a chance on Monday to wash the four 5 gallon buckets of balls I retrieved from the driving range, so I spent time before TLE's lunch break washing them, and putting them in baskets to dry for a few hours.  During TLE's lunch break I looked up the same time last year on my blog and found the day time temperatures were running 10-15° F warmer than they are this year, so I was right about it cooling off more quickly this year.  For example, the forecast high on this date last year was 97° F....that is a full 18° higher than the forecast for today.  Another thing I found out was we got our Starlink on this date one year ago today.

Office Clarke is on duty!

After lunch I made another pass around the golf course, and found everyone nicely spread out.  On days like Tuesday with so few people on the course, it must feel to each golfer like they have their own private course, and what a beautiful private course it would be.

I'm back to working what I would call a more normal schedule earlier than last year with the cooler temps.  I go into work now at 7:40 am with TLE, take an hour lunch (most of the time), and am off by 4:40 pm.  I spend those 20-30 minutes while TLE is closing down the office to practice my putting.  Speaking of practicing putting, I am in the midst of a dilemma.....for the first time this past Saturday I had not practiced putting for over a week, and I won for the first time.  Maybe I practice too much?  I'm not sure that is possible, but it is a conundrum, is it not?

We were home around 5:15 pm, and after a soothing hot shower, I was out on the 'lido deck' with TLE enjoying the cool evening zephyrs, and the beginning of our four day weekend sojourn.  The high for the day was only 79° F, so by 5:30 pm it is under 70° F already.  Such a contrast to last year.  We sat listening to Classic Vinyl on Sirrius/XM, drinking adult beverages, talking, and for moi, enjoying a good cigar.....

....it was so nice, in fact, we decided to have dinner on the 'lower deck' for the first time in weeks.....

.....which was followed by a few games of Backgammon, also the first time we have had game night in a couple of months.  Life is good at Likely Place Golf & RV Resort, that is for sure.

Thanks for stopping by!
