7:25 am, Thursday - 56º F, 29% humidity, wind 17 mph out of the south.....blue skies, and unusually warm for this time of day.....forecast high is only 61º F with a 50% chance of rain later.
Wednesday began much like Tuesday.....we were on the job around 9 am.....kind of liking these new banker's hours. We gathered our golf cart, and tools for the day and were on the job site (Group Area fence) by 9:30 am. We only had 5 sections to complete, and I figured we could manage that before lunch based on our torrid work pace Tuesday, and we did....in fact the all the gaps were closed by 11:30 am.......
.......smiles all around for TLE and I......note we are wearing our 'retro' TVC Staff t-shirts hearkening back to a happier time for us......
......we went to lunch, and then returned to do cleanup, and begin finishing the gate located near the Group Restrooms. In order to provide a smooth, level surface for the gate as it swings around we put down a few 'pavers', and then filled in all the low areas with dirt.....we'll put a wheel on the bottom of the post, and a cross beam to give it more rigidity......
......by 3 pm we had gone as far as we could go without more 'threaded rod', so we headed back to the maintenance yard to wash the cart, and put our tools away. As we cleaned the cart we could both feel a lot of the tension from the past few weeks oozing out of our bodies. Several times during the day fellow workers would stop by to wish us well, and commiserate with us about the unexpected turn of events, and a few of our long term customers (customers who spend 1-3 months at TVC each summer) came by to wish us well. It's the way we would have it......those who don't care won't come by, and those who do will.....thankfully those who care are in the majority.
We spent a quiet, reflective evening talking about all the things we must do before we can roll our wheels.....what to take, what to leave permanently behind......just in case you wondered.....there is no way we are leaving our artificial turf grass behind. I'm not sure where we'll put it, but rest assured we will find a place for it!
As I sit here putting today's missive 'to paper' I cannot help but realize I will only be seeing the beautiful morning view I see every morning here at TVC a few more precious times.....
Thanks for stopping by!
