8:02 am - Wednesday - October 21st - Seal Rock, OR - 46° F, 100% humidity, wind - CALM......mostly cloudy today with a forecast high of 56° F. On this date in 2012 we were at the Campbellsville University cafeteria having brunch with Amazon friends......↴
......I was able to clean the 9th and final site just before 12 pm, so I headed up to the barn to assist Greg and Blake in monitoring the 'burn pile' to be sure it did not get out of control. When we first arrived at SRRVC five weeks ago there was a burn ban due to dry conditions, but it was lifted about a week ago. The pile we had (wish I had remembered to take a picture of it) was the accumulation of brush, scrap wood, a piece of old carpeting, tree trimmings, and hedge trimmings going back to early summer. I stayed on until 1 pm when the 'burn pile' was finally down to a small smoldering mound leaving Greg and Blake to finish watering it down. I was home a tad after 1 pm, with TLE arriving a little after 2 pm.
I spent quite a bit of time in the trailer puttering around with this and that, but ultimately retired to the coach to warm up, and read......the temp outside never got over 58°, and even though it was mostly sunny, it was cold.
Around 5 pm I suggested to TLE that we should bundle up, and go outside for a sunset fire. Time to burn some of that new firewood I acquired earlier in the day....
.....and once again we were treated to another beautiful sunset which lingered for at least 30 minutes after the sun dipped below the western horizon.......
.....as I was putting away our chairs I saw the moon rising.....just a sliver right now....
