Paint my tongue?

6:56 am - Sunday - December 12th - Anza Borrego Desert, CA - 31° F, 41% humidity, wind - CALM.....crystal, clear, blue skies today with a forecast high of 67° F.....a 36° swing from low to high.  On this date in 2013 I had just finished installing my first set of strip LED lighting under the passenger side of the coach......↴

The past few days I have been able to scratch off several things on the 'to do' list I created way back when we were still at the Fontana/Rialto Elks Lodge. One of those projects, which I started while still there, was to repaint the trailer tongue.  I spent an hour, or so then wire brushing the rusty areas, and roughing up the paint in preparation for painting it.  On Saturday I finally got around to finishing the job.  I first removed all of the hardware attached to the tongue, including the Trailer Valet, then masked off the things I did not want to paint, and then actually applied a couple of coats of Rustoleum Gloss Black spray paint.  It came out well, and now all the rust has been treated, and covered with a new coat of paint......

When you remove all the hardware there is not much which needs masking

These are the brackets to which the EZ-Lift bars are attached

I took time to wire brush the mounting bolts for the EZ-Lift brackets

Everything reinstalled, and looking much fresher

......in all I spent about 2 hours finishing that project, and then it was time to finish up mounting the new 3-way switch for the new rope lights attached to the undercarriage of the Newell....

.....I still need to put that wiring in a wire loom, and I'll take care of that Sunday.  The aluminum bracket took me about an hour to fabricate, and by the time I finished installing it, then putting away all my tools it was after 3 pm, and sunset was not far away.....

.....of course, with a mostly cloudless sky Mr. Moon was easy to spot in the southern sky.....

....around 4 pm I got us ready for another sunset fire by taking the wrapping off our last bundle of wood....we'll have to resupply our firewood on Sunday......

.....with the lows getting into the 30's at night it gets cold quickly once the sun dips beyond the western mountains, and even with a fire, it was time to head inside by 5:30.

With the painting of the trailer tongue I have just one project left on my current 'to do' list, and then it will be time to create a new one....there will always be another 'to do' list.....RV's are no different than sticks and bricks homes in that regard.
