7:45 am - Tuesday - February 7th - GNHS - 56° F, humidity 41%, wind 9 mph out of the north by northwest.....crystal clear, blue, sunny, breezy skies today with a forecast high of 72° F. On this date in 2020 TLE and I finally pulled our artificial turf out of the trailer after being at our boondock site for 4 days.....↴
Our passports will be renewing in March, and we have been remiss about getting the renewal process started. We need proper Passport photos to submit with our renewal, and our feeble attempts to do that on our 'lido deck' were unsuccessful. How do I know? Well, you can submit your renewal application online now, and each photo I attempted to upload was rejected by the State Department website. We finally decided to drive into La Quinta Monday to the local UPS Store where they take Passport photos for U.S. passports.
One of our COA bosses, Bob, called to ask TLE to take more pictures of the damage to RZR #5, so we fiddled around with that task for about an hour before we got the kind of pictures Bob needed to complete the damage report. After a change of clothes TLE and I were off in the Beetle to La Quinta around 11 am. The local UPS Store is about a block from COSTCO, and right in the middle of our typical shopping area there. We arrived at the UPS Store without incident about 11:45 am, and by 12 noon had our Passport pictures in hand for a tad over $30.......
.....we then headed to a couple of local thrift stores in search of a more suitable office chair for TLE.....she hates the plastic folding chair provided by COA....it is fine for short durations, but sitting in it for hours at a time is not ideal. We were unsuccessful in finding a likely candidate on this day, but we will continue our search.
Next we stopped at Home Depot so TLE could look at some new plants for her garden. We settled on two calla lilies....a yellow one, and a red one....they are beautiful....
That is cilantro in the foreground, which TLE grew from seeds
.....from Home Depot we headed to Guamúchil Sushi and Mariscos in Coachella for a late lunch, arriving there around 1 pm. Our daughter, Meredith, has eaten there before and highly recommended we eat there one time, so we did.......
....they only get 3.5 stars on Yelp, but we would both disagree....we are right at 4.5 stars. I would characterize this place as high end Sinaloa, Mexico cuisine....the state of Sinaloa is on the Mexican coastal area bordering the Sea of Cortez. They do not serve taco chips, but apple chips instead bedded in a wonderful red sauce.....
....while we awaited the service of our appetizers TLE ordered some unsweet tea, and I a Modelo Negra brew.....
......for our entrées I ordered their Gobenador Tacos (shrimp).......
....and TLE their Aguachile (fileted shrimp) with green sauce (cilantro, jalapeños, lime juice, kosher salt)......what a beautiful plate!.....
.....as Guy Fiere would say......we were "on the flavor town train"! This is not your typical Mexican place, and the food is absolutely magnificent! We lingered over our food choices for over an hour before paying our check, and heading for home, arriving there just before 3 pm.
Now to try and submit our passport renewals online, which I will be doing as soon as I post today's missive.
Thanks for stopping by!
