Precautionary measures.....

12:06 pm - Saturday - July 13th - LPG&RVR - 92° F, humidity 12%, wind 4 mph ut of the west by southwest.....partially cloudy today with a forecast high of 97° F.  Got to 101° F yesterday.  On this date in 2020 TLE and I were at a campground in Spearfish, SD breaking in our brand new Splendide washer/dryer we had purchased at Campingworld the day before.....

We've been taking our 2 mile out and back walks earlier, and earlier, and it has thrown me off my normal schedule, in which I get up, go to the bathroom, and then begin composing my latest blog post soon thereafter.  I was sitting in my recliner a few minutes ago watching Stage 14 of Le Tour when I realized I had not yet typed my blog, so here I am, a little late.  Thank you for your patience.

We were successful in getting on the road earlier for our 2 mile out and back walk Friday.  Our start time was 6:30 am....much better, and much, much cooler!  We managed to average 3.2 mph for the walk, and really appreciated returning to the Newell when it was still cool.  I might add here that I have also been doing my strengthening workout each of the past 3 days, even though I have not mentioned it......

......a week, or so ago I bought a second 5 gallon diesel can, and then we bought 10 gallons of diesel to pour into our 180 gallon Newell tank to bring it to full status.  We had already poured in 10 gallons previously, so this would make 20 gallons we have poured into the tank, but I didn't get around to pouring that second 10 gallons into the tank until Friday after our walk.  You might recall that we topped off our tank in Minden, NV back in early April.  I figured we had used around 20 gallons to drive the final 200 miles back to LPG&RVR.  After pouring in the most recently purchased 10 gallons of diesel the tank is very close to full, but I think it will take 2-5 gallons more to complete the fill.

You may wonder:  "Why are you obsessing on getting your 180 gallon tank completely full?".  That is a good question.  In the past two summers we have been content to arrive here 20 gallons down knowing we could top off the tank in Minden on our way back south in October.  As many of you have noticed, the political climate in our country has deteriorated significantly in the past 3+ years, and as we approach the next Presidential election in November we are very concerned about what kind of aftermath we might face post election.  We want to be sure we have a full tank to get to a safe place, no where near a large urban area, just in case things go south.  With a full tank we have around a 1,200 mile range.  Topping off our tank is just one precaution we are taking.  We're attempting to prepare for whatever in the most prudent ways possible, and topping off our tank is just one of those precautions.  Another precaution, is we always keep our fresh water tank full (160 gallons).  We can go several weeks on 160 gallons of water.

After adding the 10 gallons to our tank it was getting warm, so I headed indoors, and out of the heat.  I spent the balance of the day watching Stage 13 of Le Tour de France.  It has been really nice to be able to watch so many stages beginning to end this year!

Thanks for stopping by!
