5:39 am - Thursday - October 3rd - LPG&RVR - 44° F, humidity 68%, wind 3 mph out of the southeast.....heavy cloud cover today with a forecast high of 60° F. On this date in 2018 TLE and I were in Smithfield, RI.....
.....having lunch at Blackie's Bull Dog Tavern.
Just like Tuesday, there were only two tee times reserved, and they were not until 10 and 11 am. The park is very empty, and feels even emptier. The weather was cold and blustery all day long. The temp may have reached 65° F, but I'm not sure. Once again I didn't take off my Fall jacket except to give TLE her lunch break. It drizzled on and off most of the night, so things were very damp first thing. I staged 4 golf carts initially, and we rented 5.
To keep busy I pulled out all the loaner golf clubs to clean and resort them. For some reason I always find left hand clubs in with right handed clubs. We have 3 sets of left handed clubs, and 3 sets of right handed clubs. That we have 3 sets of left handed clubs is not intentional. Over the summer we had two sets donated to LPG&RVR, and, amazingly, they get used quite often. There are a lot more left handers out there than one might think.
I took an hour off work (nothing to do) from 10 to 11 am, and pulled out our heated hose to redeploy....you know our time here is short when the heated hose is redeployed. Beginning Friday we'll have 4-5 days of low temps in the low 30's. In fact, Thursday night's low of 40° F will be our last low in the 40's. All the rest will be in the 30's.....Fall is definitely here. The deciduous trees are dropping their leaves like there is no tomorrow....of course the very breezy conditions we've had the past few days certainly contribute to that.
I was able to wash/stow 3 of the 5 golf carts we rented before I headed home, so I'll have two to do first thing Thursday. If the weather guessers are correct Thursday may be my last full work day as it is supposed to rain all day Friday. I'm not sure we'll rent any golf carts, but you never know....we allow people to play in the rain, and there are always a couple of folks who will....serious.
Thanks for stopping by!
