6:52 am - Monday - October 13th - Bishop, CA - 35° F, humidity 25%, wind 8 mph out of the west.....partly cloudy today with a forecast high of 68° F. On this date in 2017 TLE and I were at Downata Hot Springs in Southern Idaho....
.....soaking in their hot pools for a few days. The view this morning.....
....here in Bishop, CA....there are clouds rolling in, but the rising sun is still lighting up the Eastern Sierra Nevada.
When we are in Bishop, CA we almost always walk over to Eric Schat's Bakery after I publish my daily missive to have coffee and pastries (for me an apple fritter), and that is what we did around 9:30 am. It is about a 1/2 mile walk over.....
.....this place is always super busy, but we always manage to find an empty table at which to enjoy our coffees and pastries. Tables never stay empty for more than a few seconds as one party departs, and another swoops in to claim the briefly empty table. The line into the store is always out the door, and it takes a good 20 minutes to get through the pastry section, then order coffee and pay for what you bought. While I am in line TLE usually buys some Sheep Herder, or Squaw Bread.....sometimes a loaf of each.
We were on our way walking back home in about 40 minutes, arriving there in time to watch most of the morning NFL games. It was a rare day for me as virtually every team for which I rooted won....Raiders, Buccaneers, Chargers, Rams, Steelers, Seahawks, and Broncos.
Around 2:30 pm TLE and I walked over to Whiskey Creek for an early dinner. That walk is around 1/2 mile further than Schat's, and takes about 20 minutes, but it is well worth it. We chose their alfresco dining option (again)....
....for our appetizer we chose their bacon wrapped shrimp (how can you go wrong, right?).....I had a pint of their 22 oz. Firestone 805 Blonde Ale....TLE chose water. For our entrees I chose their fish tacos, and TLE their fish 'n chips....she had some of my tacos, and I had some of her fish 'n chips. The portions were quite generous, and we ended up bringing 1/3 of our orders back home.
All through the day the Fairground campground became emptier and emptier as everyone headed back to their workaday lives.....
....of course, we have no workaday life now for the next 6 months, and will continue to keep our own schedule, while awakening to the sun rising each day. It's a good life, and we are so blessed to live it day after day.
Thank you for stopping by!
