9:06 am - Friday - October 17th - Fontana/Rialto Elks Lodge - 69° F, humidity 25%, wind 4 mph out of the north by northeast.....crystal clear, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 83° F. On this date in 2012 TLE and I were riding our Cannondale tandem near Campbellsville, KY....
....at Green River Lake....this was the first time we worked at Amazon, and was also our first workamping job.
As I mentioned in my just published blog post covering Wednesday's events, we had an early morning (9 am) date Thursday with two of our daughters (Sharon and Kate) for breakfast at Brandon's Diner in south Ontario, about 18 miles from the Elks Lodge. Rush hour traffic in SoCal is brutal, and we were right in the middle of it as we departed the Elks Lodge around 8:10 am. It took us almost 1 hour to drive the 18 miles....we could have been to Alturas and back in 40 minutes.....lol! This is why we love living the bulk of our retirement years in rural America.
We were just expecting the girls, and Sharon's new son, Caleb, but we were blessed to have Sharon's husband, Rod, there, too.....
.....we've been to this diner a few years ago, and really love their breakfast menu. I had their version of Huevos Ranchero, and just like a few years ago, was blown away by how good it was. We sat talking, and eating until well after 10 am, finally bidding our adieus around 10:20 am. Now that we were well outside the rush hour it took us less than 35 minutes to get home....still too long, but much better than almost an hour driving there.
I spent part of the afternoon reading, and then at 3 pm we began watching the 3rd game of the NLCS between the Dodgers and Brewers. It was a close game, but the Dodgers pulled ahead 3-1 late in the game, and won by that score. They now lead this best of 7 series 3-0. Will they be able to close out the series with a 4 game 'sweep' of the Brewers? We'll know around 8 pm Friday evening.
Thanks for stopping by!
