The rain, the park, and other things.....

5:37 am - Wednesday - October 1st  - LPG&RVR  - 51° F, humidity 61%, wind 8 mph out of the south by southeast......cloudy today with a forecast high of 65° F.  On this date in 2015 TLE and I were at AM Solar in Springfield, OR.....

.....getting our solar system upgraded from 2 to 4 panels.

We awoke Tuesday morning to rain on the roof, and it had been falling since just after midnight Tuesday morning.  When we arrived at work around 7:30 am everything was so green, including the driving range, which is as green as I have seen it this time of year....

......I staged 10 golf carts first thing, but we rented just 5, and they were all back by 1:30 pm.  It rained on and off during the morning, but I was still able to get some weed whipping done, and was able to mow the employee lawns for the final time this season.  When I gave TLE her lunch break the skies opened, and we had rain for about an hour, which deterred our afternoon golfers from venturing onto the course.  It was rainy, and blustery all day long, and I never took off my Fall jacket.

Our fellow employees began departing Sunday for warmer latitudes.  DeWayne Matthews (mows the rough) left for a hunting trip Sunday, then Mike and Debbie Bratzler (runs the putting contest each Saturday) left Monday morning.  Mike and Lynn Pecot (Mike mows fairways and Lynn is our gardener/painter) will depart Tuesday morning.  There were just 13 RV's in the park Monday, and soon that number will decrease even more with just 4 days left in the season.  Our last workday will be Friday, October 3rd (my birthday), then we will begin to take down our 'lido deck', and 'dining/gaming deck' on Saturday.  It should take us 2-4 days to be ready for VW insertion, then we will also be on our way south.

Our mechanic, Bob Longacre, has begun the process of winterizing the gas golf carts (adding Stabil to the fuel system, etc.), and doing a final service on them (adjusting brakes, replacing leaky tires, etc.).  Bob lives here year round, along with Rich and Kathy Smith (Kathy is the office manager), and Rich and Patrice Samco....it's a small group that braves the winter weather here at LPG&RVR.

The weather forecast for our final three days here is sketchy at best, and it looks like we'll have rain all day Friday, our last day, so not sure how many hours I'll work, but TLE will be in the office where it is warm, so she'll get her hours.  At worst I'll give her the 90 minute break at lunch, as well as stage, then wash/stow a few golf carts each day, which will get me at least 3-4 hours each day.  The grass has, for the most part, stopped growing, and I'm not sure there is anything left which will need mowing over the next three days, but we'll see.  On  side note, my L.A. Dodgers won their first playoff game 10-5, with a lot of homeruns, and they've now won 10 of their last 11 games.  I hope that magic continues!

Finally, we had the most amazing September on the blog....we passed 3.2 million views, and had a total of 329,448 views for the month.  That is triple what we did in August....amazing....

....thank you all for following us.  We are truly humbled!

Thanks for stopping by!
