7:00 am - PST - Saturday - 55º F, 50% humidity, wind 7 mph from the west northwest......cloudy skies greet us this day.....forecast high is 76º F.  Slept like a baby last night.

Friday was just a continuation of the wonderful weather we have had the past few days......not too hot, and certainly not cold at all during the day.  I spent time in the morning refreshing some more weather stripping on the bays doors on the passenger side, and now have just one more to do.  I'll need a few more rolls of weather stripping to finish the driver's side bay doors, but it's moving along more quickly than I thought.

Rockhouse Road began to fill up with weekenders early in the day, and the stream of motorhomes and trailers continued steadily all day long.....fortunately everyone parked a respectful distance from us.....there have been several over the past few weeks who think 'closer is better'.....why I don't know.  For us we prefer no less than a 100' separation, but prefer 300'......there is certainly plenty of room out here, and there is no excuse for bunching up unless you are with a caravan, which I totally get.  Right now the nearest folks are a little over 100' away, and that is fine.....plenty of privacy for all.

Around 1 pm I decided to head out on a 20+ mile bike ride......I wish I had started earlier as it was warmer than it has been for awhile.....I know, 74º F is not that warm, but it is 10-15 degrees warmer than it has been for a while, and my aging body takes a while to acclimate to warmer temps.....at any rate......I wish.  By the time I hit the 19 mile mark I was wishing I was done, and I still had 5 miles to go.....I was just passing the airport on S-22 at that point and could see where 'home' was, and it was a long, long ways away.  Well, all you can do is put your head down and keep pedaling.  By the time I arrived back at the Newell I had covered 24.4 miles, burned just under 1500 calories, but only averaged about 13.5 mph.....I just didn't have the same energy I usually have.

After taking a deliciously hot, but all too brief shower I sat down in my recliner to finish recovering from the ride.....an hour later I woke up feeling as if I had been drugged, but did feel better overall.  We still needed to go into town to get some more drinking water, and a few sundries so TLE suggested we stop off at Los Jilbertos for a couple of their large carne asada tacos for me for dinner.....TLE has been on a liquid and soup diet until she gets her crowns installed this Monday.....hard to chew with no molars in the critical chewing spots, no?  Anyway, so that is just what we did around 4 pm.....oh, we also took in a load of trash to put in the local dumpster.....this is only the third time we've had to make a trash run in three weeks, so not too bad......

.....while I was getting the water TLE was inside buying the sundries.....I spotted this cute little sign just outside Center Market I had never noticed before.........lol!

We had a very subdued sunset, but they are all so special to me.....

.....every day we continue to live this vagabond life I am grateful.....our three weeks here on the Rockhouse have renewed my soul, and now I am ready to begin a multi day meander to Las Vegas and our 45th college reunion!  In between here and Vegas we'll avail ourselves of a few hot springs, and see some new territory.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. The weather is warming up and your exercise/ bike rides are a great way to burn lots of calories. Keep up the good work. Enjoy your travels when you get back on the road again.
