We arrived for our morning shift at 10 am, and just like Thursday afternoon, it was quite busy all morning. I did have time to snap this panoramic shot taking in both the view north (left) and south (right)......the clarity of the air was just amazing.
The time just flew by and it was 12:30 and we were being relieved by Brian and Judy (the new host couple who replaced Angie and Gary). We had made plans to meet Krash and Karen in Port Orford at Redfish for my birthday lunch at 1:30.....after a quick change of clothing back at the coach we were on our way south into town arriving just a few minutes before our friends arrived on foot. We decided to eat outside on the deck, and what a great choice that was.
Krash, Karen and I ordered the fish tacos (TLE had them the last time we were here), and TLE ordered the Little Gem Caesar Salad, but before those orders arrived we had the Ceviche and Plantain Chips appetizer. Of course there had to be some draft beer. We spent a leisurely 2 hours talking, laughing and cherishing every single bite of our entrees. Being able to celebrate this milestone event in my life with good friends in such a breathtaking setting made this one of the most memorable birthday celebrations ever.......well, okay, the day I turned 16 my Dad took me to the DMV to get my driver's license, and then letting me chauffeur him around all day as he made his sales calls definitely ties Friday in the category of "most memorable".
A little after 3:30 we bid adieu to Krash and Karen and headed back to the Cape.....there were several playoff baseball games in progress that needed watching, and that is what I did the rest of the afternoon. Had the Dodgers and Angels been able to win their games it would have been a nice cap to the day, but then that would seem a little greedy on my part, right?
Around 6:45 TLE and I walked down to the "phone booth" to catch the latest edition of great Cape Blanco sunsets and were not disappointed.....we were joined by Paul, Nina and Polly......I'm pretty much out of adjectives, so I guess "WOW!!" will have to suffice for now.
We continue to feel blessed to be surrounded by such good friends in such a remote and beautiful location. Finding places such as Cape Blanco is made so much easier because of this nomadic family which has embraced us. Except for the numerous friendships we have formed as we travel the width and breadth of this country we would probably never have found, and come to appreciate places like Cape Blanco, or Cedar Key, or the many other places we have come to love as we continue this journey. Being able to share them with meaningful friends makes us feel rich beyond words.
Thanks for stopping by!
