A 'hitch' in time......

7:39 am - Wednesday - September 1st - Seal Rock, OR - 45° F, 82% humidity, wind 6 mph out of the east...crystal, clear, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 60° F.  On this date in 2014 long time friend Don Neff stopped by our camp site at Tahoe Valley Campground with a bottle of Scotch to say 'HI!'.....↴

For the second consecutive day we had sunny skies all day.  The was a breeze out of the north making it pleasant to work in the sun.  I returned to the painting of picnic tables....just three, or four to go now.  I managed to paint one more, and finish scraping another one about half way before 12 pm arrived, and it was time to head for home.  I've been taking my Bluetooth speaker (Wonderboom) to the tent area when I am working on tables.  On this day I had the Etta James channel on Pandora playing in the background....work doesn't get much better than that I think.

Around 1 pm TLE and I took another walk down to Seal Rock Beach, and all the way south as far as we could go.  The 'crop circle' has been erased by the tide as I predicted....

No more 'crop circle'

....in all we covered 1.65 miles in 35 leisurely walking minutes, and burned 297 caloric units.....

....upon our return I headed out to the trailer to work on another departure day project.....disassemble and repaint our hitch......

.....I got to use some of my big tools for a change.....

All the rust is gone....time for new paint!

.....additionally I took time to clean 13 years of rust off the bolts using my bench grinder wire wheel, which hold the two pieces together.....they look pretty good again......

.....I managed to get the first coat of paint on the hitch just as 5 pm rolled around.....

....I'll finish painting the hitch on Wednesday, get it back together by Thursday, and then check one more thing off the departure day list.

Thanks for stopping by!
