It's a wrap.....

7:36 am - Christmas Eve - December 24th - Anza Borrego Desert, CA - 54° F, 87% humidity, wind 7 mph out of the west.....clearing skies today after an all night rain and a forecast high of 63° F.  The view this morning......↴

The beginnings of a rainbow

Getting more vivid, but not yet complete

It suddenly went from a quarter rainbow to a full rainbow in just seconds.....if you look closely at this final rainbow picture you can see just a hint of a second rainbow above the vivid one.....amazing!

.....on this date in 2013 our daughter became engaged to Rod Garcia, now our son-in-law......↴

.....and on this date in 2018 TLE and I were winging our way home from Nashville to SoCal to spend Christmas with our kids and grandkids......

Our Christmas shopping has been done for some time now, but we have no wrapping paper.  None of the shops in town carry wrapping paper of any kind, and we were wondering how we were going to solve that problem when TLE remembered there was a Dollar General and Family Dollar down at the intersection of US-86 and S-22 so we determined to drive down the hill after I finished my blog post for the day and see what each store had in stock.  As it turned out they both had more than enough choices for our tastes, but we also discovered how much better their prices are for some of our staples, like AA and AAA batteries, Kleenex, paper towels, TP, etc....significantly less than we've been paying at Walmart in La Quinta, and certainly way better than the local Center Market.  I would compare their current prices to pre supply chain crisis prices.  Who would have thought?

After our foray down to Salton City we continued on to Borrego Springs to get another 5 gallons of filtered water, and then back home for the duration of the day.  By the time we unloaded the car it was after 1 pm, and the skies were getting dark.....rain is definitely on its way.....

....and just like that we are no longer alone at our boondock site....we've been here almost 1 month now, and this is our first company.  When we were here in 2020 there were always 2-3 (including ours) RV's here.  Nice to have a little company.....

....we'll probably talk with them Friday, but it does appear they are here for a while as they tilted their solar panels toward the sun.

Around 7:30 pm the rain began, and continued all through the night until about 5 am.  Nice to have rain falling upon our aluminum roof.....very, very nice.  I slept with my bedroom window open the entire night.  The fragrance of the wet desert flora wafting through the window all night was intoxicating.  As I finish this day's blog post the rain has returned.

  1. Good morning, Clark and Elaine. Merry Christmas Eve!
It certainly is quiet there at Borrego Springs, we didn't think boondocking was allowed, you must not be on Rockhouse Trail Rd.? Anyway, lovely rainbow. We've had rain the same as yours but no rainbow.

    1. Merry Christmas Patsy to you and yours! No boondocking is allowed off Rockhouse Road, but there are two large State Park turnouts where it is allowed. That is where we are. We are about 75 yards from the highway, but there are not that many vehicles, especially at night. Very quiet!

  2. Merry Christmas Clark and Elaine. As I have said before, I really appreciate and enjoy your daily blog, though I rarely say anything. You two are the best. --Dave
