Good for another year.....

7:20 am - Friday - December 8th - GNHS - 54° F, humidity 57%, wind 4 mph out of the northwest.....crystal clear, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 70° F. Just another of those dreadful GNHS days.....lol.  On this date in 2020 it was sunny and I was painting picnic tables at Seal Rock RV Cove on the Oregon Coast......sunny days in December were rare.....↴

TLE and I were awake and out of bed by 6 am Thursday morning, and why not?  We went to bed at 9 pm Wednesday night...lol.  Plus, we wanted to have a leisurely interval before we left at 8 am to drive the final 100 minutes to Poway....

.....the curtains in the living room, which faces east, were still wide open so we had this panoramic view of the rising sun as we sat sipping our freshly brewed Nespresso coffees.  A very nice, civilized way to begin any day.

By 8 am, as planned, we were in the VW heading up the Montezuma Grade out of Borrego Springs,  through Ranchito, Santa Ysabel, and Ramona, finally reaching the Palomar Medical Center around 9:40 am....35 minutes early for my appointment.  We love early doctor appointments as they will usually get you into the 'small room' early, which was the case this day.  Within minutes Dr. Mulvihill was there asking me questions, checking my heart beat, and pronouncing me fit for another year.  Can you believe it has been 4.5 years since my heart attack?

We were out the door, and in the VW before 10:15 am, my original appointment time.  Dr. Mulvihill asked me to get some current lab work done to check my cholesterol levels, etc., so I made an appointment at Quest Labs in La Quinta for next Wednesday, when we'll be in town, anyway, shopping.

Speaking of shopping, whenever we find ourselves just a few blocks from a COSTCO, or Trader Joe's we must buy a few things, so that is where we headed next.  By 11:45 am we had loaded our groceries into the VW, packed some in ice, and were on our way home.  By late morning the traffic around Poway had gotten quite busy, so it took us almost two hours to get back to Borrego Springs where we had planned to have a late lunch at the Red Ocotillo, one of our favorite local eateries, and where we eat at least once a year, if not more.....

.....the weather in Borrego Springs was just delightful...there was this gentle, balmy breeze blowing through their alfresco dining area, plus the air clarity was remarkable....hence I am remarking.....

....they have wonderful coffee at Red Ocotillo, and even though it was after 1 pm that was my beverage of choice.  They serve one breakfast item in the afternoon.....two eggs, bacon, garlic potatoes, and toast.....they call it "Just waking up?", and although were not not "just waking up" we love breakfast for lunch, so that is what we ordered......

...being able to breakup the trip home with an hour interlude at the Red Ocotillo was the crowning touch on a beautiful travel day.  We arrived back home around 3:50 pm, and by sunset at 4:30 pm we had all the groceries, and 5 bundles of firewood we picked up at our favorite firewood place just outside Borrego Springs, put away.  I managed to slip out side briefly to catch the setting sun....

....all I can say is WOW!!!

Thanks for stopping by!
