7:22 am - Monday - December 4th - GNHS - 45° F, humidity 90%, wind 5 mph out of the southeast.....cloudy today with a forecast high of 69° F. On this date in 2012 TLE and I were celebrating our first Christmas season on the road in Campbellsville, KY at Amazon.....our little Christmas tree......↴
So, our first four day weekend with no rentals....I don't think that happened last year, but maybe I'm misremembering, who knows. Anyway, since we were off work I knew there would be lots of football being watched by moi on the 'lido deck', and maybe a couple of projects would be completed, one of which was to move some gravel to the dirt area in front of the Sea-B-Que table. When it rains the dirt turns to mud, and even though it does not rain much here on the east side of the Salton Sea, when it does the dirt turns to sticky clay mud, and takes days to dry out as the area is completely in the shade. There is a lot of gravel between the COA office, and the Roadrunner building to its west, so I took a few scoops of the over abundant gravel from there and moved it to the dirt area.....
....during half time of the morning NFL game. In between games I cut the new wood plank I had bought at TruValue Hardware in Calipatria Sunday, and framed the A/C wall unit on the COA office....
....I spent some time watching more football.....
....then turned my attention to caulking, and painting the new wooden trim around the A/C wall unit. Now all which needs doing is to paint the trim on the back of the COA office (the side you are seeing in the picture) and my two winters project will be finished.....
....I'm not sure if I have ever posted a picture of the trailer entry door and the various plaques I've attached over the years. The Thunderbird one used to be in color, but the UV rays over the years have taken their toll on it and the 'Pirates Only' one....
....the most recent addition, 'RV OFFICE/CLUBHOUSE', is from LPG&RVR. I found it in the trash heap out by the shop where all the heavy equipment is parked.
The afternoons are short here at GNHS in December, and it wasn't long until it was time to light another sunset fire to ward off the late afternoon chill.....
....and change back into my pajama bottoms, and add a hooded sweatshirt for good measure....
.....of course, TLE joined me shortly thereafter.....
.....the setting sun did its magic upon the Chocolate Mountains and provided another beautiful GNHS sunset. Soon TLE was back in the Newell preparing dinner (Chicken/bacon Aflfredo on angel hair pasta), and I was moving to the 'dining/game deck'.....
.....and, of course, the windless evening would not be complete without a rousing game of 'Phase 10', at TLE's insistence. The cards favored me this evening, and at one point I was up by 3 phases, but TLE rallied briefly to get within 2 phases, however, the great cards kept on coming my way, and I 'phased out' with that remaining 2 phase lead intact. By the way, TLE does all the card shuffling and dealing....my old fingers are too big, and stiff to do a proper job. Anyway, when the cards go my way it is all on her....lol!
The Sunday night game between the Packers and Chiefs was a great game marred by terrible officiating, with the worst, and final bad call favoring the Packers, and deciding the game in their favor....27-19.
Thanks for stopping by!
