7:12 am - Wednesday - December 13th - GNHS - 39° F (first overnight low under 40!), 73% humidity, wind 4 mph out of the south by southeast......crystal clear, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 68° F. On this date in 2016 TLE and I were in Wickenburg, AZ visiting the Desert Caballeros Western Museum......↴
Right now we're in that 'shoulder season' between Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Years, which means the park is typically not very busy, and it is really not very busy. With not much to do on the rental front right now each day is kind of laid back for TLE and I. After publishing my latest missive TLE and decided to take a 2 mile out and back walk out the park entrance and down Mineral Hot Spa road about a mile, before turning around at Coachella Canal Road.....we began our walk just before 9 am.....
.....it's our first 2 mile walk in a while, so we took our time, stopping occasionally to admire the scenery. In all we walked for about 39 minutes and change....it was a nice way to begin the day.
Following our arrival back at the Newell I changed into my swim suit and headed down for another of those 60 minute soaks in the large hot pool, and was back around 11:30 am. After changing out of my wet swim suit I did some stretching exercises, situps, pushups, etc. before heading inside for lunch, and a nap. What a delightful, civilized way to begin any day!
I spent the afternoon figuring out how to, and then running wire to power the 12 volt LED lights, and Fantastic Fan in the trailer. The only time those lights, and that fan are operational is when the trailer is plugged into the 7 pin connector at the back of the coach, but when we are parked like we are now that is not possible. My main interest in doing this was to be able to use the Fantastic Fan to vent hot air out of the trailer on warm/hot days. When I first installed that fan we were working in South Lake Tahoe with the trailer parked directly behind the Newell, which enabled me to plug it in. I've not been able to use the fan for many years as we are always parking the trailer too far away from the Newell. At any rate, I had to take the lights down, and some of the trim to get at the space where I can run the wiring, which will ultimately connect to a two way switch, and then to our new Bluetti Solar Charger/Battery enabling me to power up the fan, and 12 volt lights. without plugging the trailer into the Newell 7 pin connector. This will really come in handy when we are boondocking in the future....I will be able to power up the whole trailer with the Bluetti, instead of using the Honda 2000 gas generator....much quieter, and more efficient....
That wiring will connect two 12 volt LED lights, and the Fantastic Fan to 12 volt power
The Fantastic Fan
Where the two way switch will be
....with the two way, three position switch I will be able to turn on just the LED lights, or just the Fantastic Fan. Hoping to finish this project up Wednesday, or Thursday. I carry a supply of various gauges of stranded wire with me, so I already had enough wire for the project, plus I already had the two way switch, so it is really just labor now to finish the task.
Around 4 pm TLE I grabbed one of the two seat Generals to drive to the top of 'Snob Hill' to watch the sun set over the Salton Sea Basin....the view is spectacular.....
The Chocolate Mountains lighting up....we brought some chairs, popcorn, and wine
....when that sun finally disappears behind the mountains it gets dark quickly, and cold. We were packed up and on our way back down the hill by 4:40 pm where I started a post sunset fire in the portable fire pit so we could enjoy the rest of our popcorn and wine outdoors....
.....from there we transitioned over to the 'dining/game deck' for another rousing round of dominos.....when last we left off I had a big lead, but that changed quickly, and with 20 minutes TLE was nipping at my heels, but I hung on to win by about 16 points making it to 150 first. We began a second game, but were not finished by 6:30 pm, the time we wanted to go back inside to watch another Hallmark Christmas movie.....'Round and Round'.....a take off on 'Groundhog Day'.....very funny, and very interesting. We'll finish our game Wednesday night.
And thus ends another laid back GNHS day.....thanks for stopping by!
