Indian Head.....

5:01 pm - Thursday - December 7th (Pearl Harbor Day) - GNHS - 68° F, humidity 53%, wind 1 mph out of the northwest......crystal clear, blue, sunny skies today, and the forecast high of 71° F was realized.  On this date in 2012 TLE and I were having lunch with wonderful Amazon  friends Jim, Sharon, Pat and Richard at Longhunter's Coffee and Tea Company in Greensburg, KY....seems like yesterday......↴

Our goal was to be in Borrego Springs around 12:30 pm so we could do a little junking at Frugal Coyote, have some ice cream at Big Horn Fudge company, do some window shopping, and arrive after 2:30 pm at The Palms at Indian Head Hotel just north of town.  This is that cool Mid Century Modern hotel I've written about previously.  We fell in love with this place back in 2007 while on a long weekend trip in our pretty new to us 2002 Ford Thunderbird.  We had never been to Borrego Springs previously, but since then have returned a couple dozen times over the years.  This would be our third overnight stay at The Palms at Indian Head, and I'm pretty sure there will be more.  However, I get ahead of myself.

Since we weren't leaving until 11 am I headed down to the hot pools/tubs around 9:30 am to take another soak....

My annual cardiological appointment with Dr. Mulvihill was set for Thursday at 10:15 am, so we decided to get the first 90 minutes of the 3+ hour one way drive out of the way Wednesday leaving us just another 100 minutes to Poway on Thursday morning.

We were in the Beetle heading north on US-111 by 8:10 am, and arrived at Borrego Springs without incident about 90 minutes later.  Our first stop was at Big Horn Fudge Company for some ice cream, after which we walked over to Frugal Coyote....I do not remember the last time we junked there and came away with nothing without which we could not live, and this visit was no exception.

We picked up a few things at Center Market, and made a quick stop at the local TruValue Hardware store to pickup up a throw away ice chest for things we would buy Thursday at TJ's and COSTCO.  After some window shopping in the local outdoor mall we headed over to The Palms at Indian Head Hotel around 2:30 pm to check in, and rest up before our dinner appointment at the onsite Coyote Steakhouse.  They are only open Wednesday through Sunday, and we missed eating there the last time we overnighted at the hotel a little less than a year ago....

.....around 5:15 pm we headed downstairs for our alfresco dinner reservation....

....we had a wonderful dinner, and even more brilliant conversation for over 2 hours before we paid our check, and headed back to our room.  What great day lived at a slow pace....a day well lived!

Thanks for stopping by!
