"It's all over, but the shouting...."

5:41 am - Sunday - September 7th - LPG&RVR - 47° F, humidity 37%, wind 3 mph out of the southeast....partly cloudy today with a forecast high of 80° F.  On this date in 2020 TLE and I were overnighting at 7 Cedars Casino on the Olympic Peninsula on our way to spend a year at Seal Rocks RV Cove....

.....we set up a table outside the coach and called it our 'lido deck'....lol!

Saturday was mildly busy, but in reality it was very laid back.  I figured we'd rent around 14 golf carts, and that is exactly what we rented over the course of the day.  We don't mow, as you know, on the weekends at LPG&RVR, so I busied myself watering dry grass areas around the park, which involved the moving of sprinklers on a regular basis, plus I turned on the tree irrigation for probably the last time this summer.   Things are cooling down fast as we finish the first week in September.  By Tuesday we'll be in the 60's, and by next Sunday we'll see the first overnight low in the 30's since early June.  As I drive around the park I see numerous deciduous trees beginning to change to Fall colors.

We only had 26 putters signed up for the putting contest, but they were all very good putters, and even though I putted quite well I found myself on the outside looking in by the end of the 3rd round.  Since I was out early I returned to the 'Cart Return' area to finish washing carts, and then stowing them.  By the time I finished all but 3 of the 14 carts had been returned.

The putting contest was held one hour earlier than normal (3 pm) as we had the annual 'Members Dinner' at 5 pm over at the group fire pit area.  I think there were over 50 people in attendance which is the most in our four summers at LPG&RVR.  DeWayne BBQ'd a pile of ribs, while others, including TLE, contributed desserts, and sides.  This was the first of three Saturday evening dinners marking the end of another season.  Next Saturday is the Likely Fire Department's annual steak BBQ/raffle, followed by the annual 'cookoff' the following Saturday....usually it is a BBQ cookoff, but this year it will be a Chili cookoff.  After that it is 'all over but the shouting' as my Dad often said.  The annual 'punching of the greens' will begin on the 15th....OH JOY....just kidding....there is no joy, just quiet suffering.....lol!

Thanks for stopping by!
