When the argument is lost, violence will surely follow.....

7:48 am - Thursday - September 11th - Klamath Falls, OR - 53° F, humidity 77%, wind 1 mph out of the west by southwest.....heavy cloud cover today in Klamath Falls with a chance of rain later this morning.  On this date in 2017 TLE and I were visiting my sister (Hilary), and her husband (Bob) at the Triangle X Ranch (Dude ranch) near the Grand Tetons.....

.....such a beautiful setting, and a very memorable time!

As is our habit, TLE and I slept in Wednesday before beginning to pack for our two day anniversary/birthday trip to Klamath Falls.  Our Jello plan was to be on the road by 10 am, and we were close.  By time we exited the park it was 10:15 am, but who's in a hurry, right?  It generally takes about 2 hours to reach the Washburn exit off State 140, and in spite of a long construction delay, we arrived at the exit right at 12:15 pm.  The drive was without incident.  When we left Likely it was partly cloudy, but by the time we exited State 140 it was raining, and continued to rain on and off all afternoon.  Nevertheless, it was a beautiful drive, as it always is.

We did some shopping at the local Walmart before heading across the street to the local Goodwill to do some junking, which we have not done for some time.  We had both pulled out dress shirts/blouses out of our closets for our anniversary/birthday dinner Thursday night, but failed to get them from the Newell into the VW, so we were each looking for suitable substitutes as we browsed up and down the clothing aisles.  I found an almost new 'Hawaiian' shirt (I believe one cannot own too many Hawaiian shirts), and TLE found two nice knit blouses.

By the time we finished our shopping it was getting close to 3 pm, so we headed over to our hotel, Shilo Inn, where we almost always have stayed when in Klamath Falls over the past 4 summers.  We always get a 'mini suite', so we can spread out.  There is a nice sitting area separated from the 'bedroom' by a translucent wall.  The sitting area includes a mini kitchen with sink, fridge and microwave, as well as a work table where I am now sitting composing today's missive....

....regrettably, the afternoon was marred by the tragic, outrageous news that Charlie Kirk (Turning Point USA) had been assassinated because of what he believed.  He often said that when people on opposing political sides stop talking violence ensues.  That is why he dedicated his short life (he was just 31 years old, married with 2 children) to going to college campuses to engage in a respectful debate of ideas. He was always respectful, and never condescending.  He spoke truth, not hate.  Where we (individually and as a country) go from here I do not know, but I believe that we, as a country, are on the edge of another civil war.  I hope not, but with this successful political assassination, the first one since 1968, (Martin Luther King.....the two prior against our current President were unsuccessful) blood has been shed for the second time in as many years.  Both Martin Luther King and Charlie Kirk were assassinated due to their beliefs/ideas.

With that I will end today's post, and as always, thank you so much for stopping by!
