7:42 am - Tuesday - September 2nd - LPG&RVR - 60° F, humidity 26%, wind 2 mph out of the east by southeast.....partly cloudy today with a forecast high of 93° F. On this date in 2015 TLE and I were giving tours of Cape Blanco Lighthouse.....
.....on the southern Oregon Coast just north of Port Orford.
Was was the great 'vacuum day' here at LPG&RVR when close to 30 RV's and owners were sucked out of the park in less than an hour. I look forward to 'vacuum days' as it means things slow down, and it gets quiet again. To begin the day I staged the usual 10 golf carts, and by the end of the day had rented just 13. I still had 8 carts left over from Sunday to wash/stow, so I took care of that next.
By the time I finished stowing the last of the washed carts it was time to begin clearing the driving range of range balls so it could be mowed later in the morning. We 'sold' a lot of range balls over the Labor Day weekend, so I expected there to be a lot of them out there and there were......25 gallons worth (five 5 gallon buckets). With so many balls on the driving range I planned to use the 'ball picker' to pick up the majority of them, but first walked the perimeter of the range picking balls using the 'Shag Bag'. In all it took me close to two hours to complete the task.
I haven't irrigated the 10 back in sites, and 10 tent sites in a while, and with most of the back-in sites empty decided it was time to open the quarter turn 4" valve below the pond to begin the irrigation around 11:30 am. Normally I would have done that first thing in the morning, but I didn't want to get up at 5 am Monday morning to turn off the valve. As I write (after 7 am Monday) all the back-in sites are flooded, and 6 of the tent sites, so it will be at least two more hours, if not 3 until I shut the valve.
Right after TLE's lunch break I began washing the range balls, and pouring them into wire baskets to dry them, and then I turned my attention to the 10 golf carts which had been returned and began washing them. By the time I finished those carts two more had returned, so there will only be one cart for Dave to wash Monday morning.
The high of the day, 90° F, did not arrive until almost 5 pm, and by 8 pm it was under 80° F.....love how quickly the heat leaves the air in September! I was home by 3:15 pm taking a shower, and a nap. TLE walked home from work arriving around 5:30 pm....another four day work week is now in the bag, and a four day weekend begins. We have just 14 work days left in the season.
Thanks for stopping by!
