5:41 am - Tuesday - September 9th - LPG&RVR - 48° F, humidity 53%, wind 7 mph out of the southeast....cloudy today with a forecast high of 72° F. On this date in 2020 TLE and I were driving US-101 through the Olympic Peninsula when we spied a 1969 Newell just ahead of us.....
.....they (Nate and Tammy) noticed us in their review mirror, so pulled off the highway, and into a pullout so we could meet. 1969 was the just the third year of production for Newell. I love serendipity!
Things slowed down a little more on Monday as we are now in the 'shoulder season' (a fancy way of saying Fall). While, technically, the calendar still says it is summer, the season has definitely changed here in northeast California. Before I staged a single golf cart I had 12 carts remaining from Sunday to wash/stow, so I did that first. We didn't have any golfers going out until 9 am, so I had plenty of time. Once that was done I staged 10 carts, and wasn't sure we would rent more than that, but we did end up sending out 15.
After washing and staging carts I headed out to the driving range to clear what few balls had been hit out there over the weekend, and was done within 45 minutes barely picking 5 gallons worth in that time span. Once those balls were soaking I picked up one of the Husqvarna string trimmers, and I need to stop right there and correct something I've been incorrectly reporting for four summers now. I have referred to our string trimmers as being of the STIHL brand all this time, but they are not. I actually, for the first time, looked at and read the small label Monday to discover that they are Husqvarna, not STIHL.....lol! It doesn't help that both STIHL and Husqvarna use the same color scheme on their power tools. Anyway, I headed down to the 'Night Office' to do the trimming I didn't have time to do the day prior, then up to the small gazebo, and finally the 10 pull through full hookup sites. Once that was done I proceeded to mow those 10 pull through sites, the small gazebo, and the large grass area next to site #30 before TLE's lunch break.
By the way, while doing the string trimming in the 10 pull through sites I met up with Ed and Bud who were outside their RV's talking. Ed has, apparently, been reading my humble blog for many years, and always looks forward to reading my latest missive each evening. Thank you Ed for your loyalty all these years! I thoroughly enjoyed talking with you and Bud!
I only gave TLE a one hour break Monday as I still had a lot of mowing to do after lunch, at which time I refueled the Husqvarna two bagger, and began mowing the 5 pull through water/electric sites, finishing with the parking lot grass. Once that was done I could see there were 10 golf carts in 'Cart Return' area, so I first cleaned, and fueled the Husqvarna before parking it, then proceeded to clean/stow the 10 carts finishing that just before 3 pm. I'll have 4 to wash/stow first thing Tuesday, which will be day number four of our current work week. After Tuesday, there will be just 10, or 11 work days left in our fourth summer season here at LPG&RVR.
I headed home to take a long, hot shower, and take a 45 minute nap. It wasn't my intent to take that long of a nap, but it is what it is. I picked up TLE right at 5 pm, then headed down to the 'Night Office' to flip the sign, and post the availability for those arriving after 5 pm sans a reservation.
Thanks for stopping by!
