8:59 am - Friday - August 20th - Seal Rock, OR - 57° F, 100% humidity (drizzling right now), wind - CALM.....drizzling through noon time, overcast all day today with a forecast high of 63° F.....sunrise 6:34 am, sunset 8:13 pm. On this date in 2013 we were in Coeur d'Alene, ID staying at River Walk RV Park for a month on the shores of the Spokane River......↴
Around 8:30 am I received a text message from Terry asking me to trim the hedges in site 40. This site has been almost continuously occupied for the last 5 weeks, and it was in dire need to have the hedges trimmed, and grass mowed. I wasn't sure when I would be able to access the site as check-out time is 11:30 am, but as I drove over to the Landscape Shed I noticed the site 40 occupant was already backing out of the site. I quickly dropped the trailer on the cart hitch, loaded a host of Stihl power equipment along with the Craftsman lawn mower into it, and headed directly to site 40 to begin the work. Sites 40, and 41 are large sites with lots of hedges and grass. The hedges in site 41 had been done a few weeks ago, and still looked good, but the grass in both sites needed mowing, but before I got to that I needed to trim the hedges, and pick up the clippings......
Looking down the right site of site 40
This hedge separates sites 40 and 41
The back of site 40 is quite spacious
Site 40 on the left, and 41 on the right
.....there are about 300 feet of hedges to trim in site 40, and it took me the better part of two hours to trim them, and load the clippings into the trailer. After that I mowed and edged both sites, which took another 40 minutes. By this time it was after 12 pm and I needed to take care of 'site checks' before the 1 pm check-in time, so I hauled the trailer up the hill to the burn pile, unloaded the clippings and then went to check all the site with incoming customers, managing to finish just before 1 pm.
As I walked home I was thinking about how fast time is slipping away here at SRRVC. With another work week in the books we now have just 5 weeks until our contract expires, and we return to our vagabond life. In just over a week TLE and I will celebrate 54 years of friendship, and 50 years of marriage. We just received news that our 8th grandchild was born to our daughter Kate. She and Nick named him Levi (their fourth child). Our 9th grandchild (Bowie) will make her debut in November (Tim and Laila's second child).....life is good, and time marches ever onward.
The sun was out all afternoon again, so I took a shower, and then headed outside to sit in one of our orange Adirondack chairs to enjoy the view, and count my blessings.
