7:47 am - Wednesday - August 18th - Seal Rock, OR - 57° F, 88% humidity, wind 6 mph out of the north by northwest.....heavily overcast today with a forecast high of 63° F. On this date in 2012 TLE and I were visiting Multnomah Falls, OR......↴
Tuesday saw Fred and I performing another team task....mowing and trimming Fairwinds. It has been about 6 weeks since I has mowed Fairwinds with the riding lawnmower. This time Fred operated the riding lawnmower while I mowed the inaccessible places, and around the perimeter. We managed to finish in about an hour, then it was off to do site checks before our two hour shift expired.
You will recall I ordered a new 10 speed cassette, and 10 speed chain (both SRAM) last week, and by Tuesday I had received both via Amazon Prime. Nothing like a fun bike project to while away the afternoon hours, so within 30 minutes of arriving home, and changing clothes I was in the garage (trailer) removing the old chain and cassette.....
.....this photo is a good example of what I called 'cupping'.....you can see the valley between the two sprocket teeth is off center....this causes the chain to jump, or skip. By the time I had the new chain and cassette installed it was close to 2:30 pm. The new chain I ordered was too short by 4 links so I chose the best four from the old chain, and added them. The old chain looked pretty good under close examination, and after examining the old sprocket I am sure it was 95% of the problem, so I'm not concerned with a borrowing 4 links from it to make the new chain long enough....
.....I had to walk halfway down NW Cross Street to get the last two pictures.....within another minute the sun disappeared behind a cloud bank off shore well before it would have kissed the ocean.....time....8:09 pm.
