8:12 am - Friday - May 13th - Likely, CA - 43° F, humidity 58%, wind 4 mph out of the south by southwest....mostly sunny today with a forecast high of 63° F.....the view this morning.....↴
.....now that is more like it! Lot's of sun, no rain/snow, no wind, and it's not freezing cold....all the elements required for a great day spent outdoors, even if it is Friday the 13th....lol!
Each morning TLE opens the curtains on the passenger side of our bedroom so we can see what kind of weather we can expect. As has been the case for the past week, the skies had their usual leaden appearance, and a step out the entry door a few minutes later confirmed it was cold, and breezy, as it would remain for most of the day. We took another 1.25 mile loop walk around the park late morning, even though it was still quite breezy and cold, as one might surmise from our outer wear......
....for the first time we broke the 3.4 mph barrier averaging 3.6 mph for the entire walk. We are walking at 4,500' elevation here, whereas in Wittmann, and Borrego we were walking at 1,200-1,600' elevation. The higher elevation does seem to make a difference, but I think we are finally getting acclimated....
.....in the afternoon I puttered around in the trailer for a while, and had intended to hit the driving range, and putting green, but as the afternoon progressed it got colder, and a little breezier, but not too breezy to fly the drone. We've been here for a month and I haven't flown our Holy Oak drone to give you a bird's eye view.....
.....I was able to fly it for about 90 seconds before it got too breezy to control it, but at least now you have a better idea of the surrounding terrain. I'm hoping Friday will be more conducive to a longer flight with a few still pictures.
We had talked about a sunset fire, but it was just too breezy for TLE, and I wasn't going to sit outside by myself, so we enjoyed the sunset from warm interior of the Newell.....
....we do need to burn the last of our Anza Borrego Desert firewood before the annual fire ban goes into effect here in Modoc County.
In closing, my weight dropped into the 184 range, and I am now just one pound away from my 30 pound weight loss goal, and I expect to be there in another week. I am now in a weight zone I have not seen since the late 90's. I continue to find items of clothing in my Rubber Maid under bed clothing storage container which now fit better than the day I bought them, and clothing I have worn for years has been relegated to that same container. Perhaps I should donate that clothing to remove the possibility of me ever wearing those items again.
