Two for one.....

6:23 am - Monday - May 9th - Likely, CA - 24° F, 77% humidity, wind 2 mph out of the west......snow last night, and today's forecast calls for more snow this afternoon, and into the evening....forecast high is 35° F.  The view this morning.....↴

.....on this date in 2020 we were boondocking at Goosenecks State Park in southern Utah.....

First of all I need to apologize to my daily readers for failing to post an entry to my daily blog yesterday.  I had the best of intentions, and had just finished proof reading Saturday's installment prior to posting it when I hit the wrong key on my laptop causing all my work to disappear.  It was time to get dressed for work, and there was not enough time to retype it, so I decided to to a combo post today covering Saturday and Sunday.  By the way Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers everywhere, but particularly to the amazing mothers who are part of the Hockwald clan....Rochelle, Kate, Sharon, Cynthia and Laila who have provided TLE and I with 9 grand children, and 2 great grand children.  All of your children are a living testament to what great mothers you have been, and continue to be.  TLE and I are blessed beyond measure!

First of all, Saturday was a decent day weather wise, but the wind came up late morning, adding the dreaded 'wind chill factor' into the mix making the afternoon mostly unpleasant, but the work did continue on without a hiccup.  I rode the John Deere riding lawnmower out to the 16th hole tee boxes to trim around each of the tee boxes as the bigger mowers can't get in there.  It actually took longer to drive out and back at 3 mph than it did to cut the grass....lol!

Due to the cold, windy conditions only 6 carts were rented, and those golfers were all done by 1 pm, so I had them (the carts that is) washed, and put away in the cart shed by 3 pm.  TLE and I were home a little after 5 pm bracing for the forecast rain/snow coming on Sunday.

So, Sunday.....what a mixed bag of weather it was.  We awoke to a trace of snow on the VW, and golf cart, but none on the ground......it was bitter cold with a capital 'B'......I had to retrieve my winter parka from the trailer....I knew it was bad luck to put it back in the trailer....doh!  At least it was a little sunny, and it was not snowing at 8 am, but by 9 am it began to snow....not hard, just snow flurries at first.  I put out our 5 electric carts thinking now one would be playing golf with the wind, and snow flurries, but I was wrong....two couples did go out to play 9 holes....you have really got to love golf to have played on Sunday.

I was not sure I was going to be able to work 8 hours Sunday, but somehow I managed to stay busy in between snow flurries.  I mowed most of the grass islands down on what we call the 'meadows' RV sites, as well as our limited tenting area.  I also worked on two more bicycles, one of which had no working brakes.  I managed to get the brakes functioning properly again on that bike, and it was just a matter of some minor adjustments on the other one before I returned them to the bike rack next to the 'Caddie Shack'.

The Café was quite busy during the morning, as it was Mother's Day, and it stayed busy until around 2 pm....probably the busiest it has been since we've been at Likely Place.  TLE and I were once again home just after 5 pm, and I spent the next 45 minutes trying to thaw out from day spent out in the elements.

The snow began to fall in earnest around 8 pm, and it apparently continued falling on and off all night as we were met this morning (Monday) with a 'Winter Wonderland' view.....

....thank you TLE for the great picture! So, that makes 7 times it has snowed now, and stuck to the ground since we arrived less than 4 weeks ago.  We have begun to wonder if summer will be on the menu in 2022....lol.
