Amazing.....

7:20 am - Thursday - December 8th - GNHS - 42° F, 57% humidity, wind 2 mph out of the northwest.....crystal clear,  blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 66° F.  On this date in 2016 TLE and I arrived at our winter headquarters in Wittmann, AZ (the home of amazing friends Tom and Darlene McCloud). Tom, who restores pinball machines as a hobby, gave us a special welcome on one of those pinball machines......↴

....has it really been six years?  It does not seem possible.

After completing and posting my latest missive TLE and I drove into Mecca (north end of the Salton Sea) to do a small shopping.  There is a Family Dollar store there, and a Mexican Carnicería at which we are able to find 99% of the things we need for another week.  Shopping in Mecca knocks 30 round trip miles off our trip, which is nice.  Right next to the Family Dollar store is the post office, which sports a nice building mural....you know I love building murals......

.....once we were done shopping we headed over to the ARCO Travel Center on Highway 89 to fuel up the VW with Premium Unleaded, and were surprised by a price under $5/gallon in this remote area......

.....after taking on 8 gallons of fuel we headed over to the Starbucks to get some beverages....a Mocha Frappuccino for moi, and an Americano for TLE.  We were home before noon time, at which time TLE and I began to assemble the $15, 3.5' tall Christmas tree we had snagged at the Family Dollar store.  It already had lights installed, so all we had to do was add some decorations on it.  We've carried a small 2' tree around for years, but we cannot find it.....we were both positive we had kept it, but its whereabouts remains a mystery to be solved another day....

....after that I spent the balance of the afternoon adding Christmas lights to our surrounds, and I think it came out very well.....TLE is beginning to think I need a 12 step program to deal with my lighting fetish.....lol....maybe she is on to something......

From the 'lido deck' side of the office

From the front of the office

I couldn't help myself...I had to decorate one of the palm trees

.....after all that work we walked over to the hot springs for a soak, and were treated to a beautiful sunset in the process.....

.....TLE made anchovy pizza for dinner, and we played 5 games of Backgammon.....I won the tie breaker in a squeaker.  We forewent an evening fire, and just sat at the picnic table in the 'lido deck' talking for over an hour.  It is so amazing to me that after 51 year of marriage we still have stuff about which to talk, and great conversations to boot......I almost always learn something new about Elaine I didn't know before.

Thanks for stopping by!
