7:34 am - Tuesday - December 13th - GNHS - 38° F (our lowest low so far), 73% humidity, wind 4 mph out of the south by southwest......crystal clear, chilly, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 59° F. On this date in 2021 TLE and I visited Caliente Springs County Park in Shelter Valley about 50 minutes from our boondock site in the Anza Borrego Desert.....↴
We had no bookings for Monday, but what do you know? We had a walkup customer arrive around 10 am who rented one of our RZRs for a 2 hour tour beginning just after 11:15 am. It was a family of three (husband, wife and daughter) who are boondocking over near Joshua Tree NP, so we were pretty sure we would have no crashing, or breaking of the equipment issues, and we were right. They returned on time from their tour with the RZR no worse for the wear, then headed over to the hot tubs for a soak....our perfect customer. In all we were open for 4 hours. I had just finished washing RZR #4 when the customer arrived....perfect.
Otherwise it was a slow, uneventful, lazy day for us.
The temp never got above 57° F, and it was cold enough that I wore long pants, a long sleeve t-shirt, and jacket when outside. I can't just sit inside all day so I spent time in the trailer reorganizing the rear of the trailer where TLE stores some of our dry goods such as paper towels, TP, and other dry, shelf stable food stuffs which will not fit in our pantry. It was getting a little crowded back there, and it was difficult getting to those items from time to time. I also store a few of my tools there for quick, easy access. I think I'm developing a tool problem....lol....
....I think someday I'll have to lay out all of my tools to illustrate what I have acquired over the almost 11 years we have been vagabonding. I began our journey with a small bag of tools, and a socket wrench set. To be fair, it became pretty obvious early on that I did not have enough of the right tools, so I began to slowly acquire more tools as the need arose. Pretty soon I was buying tools against 'possible' future needs, and lately I've just been buying tools because I thought they were cool. Have I used all my tools? Well, to be honest I'd say I've used about 75% of the tools I have on hand, but every time I use one for the first time I am so grateful I had the foresight to buy it 5, 6, or 7 years ago.....lol.
We had another nice sunset Monday evening. I'm having to walk further and further away from our site to get the sunset picture....this one was taken from the far corner of the propane station area. Pretty soon I'll be out on the main entrance/exit road taking sunset pictures......
....it was too cold for 'lido deck' shenanigans, so we stayed inside watching Hallmark Christmas movies until almost 1o pm before blowing our noses, dabbing happy tears away from our eyes and heading off to dreamland.
Thanks for stopping by!
