6:50 am - Monday - April 5th - Seal Rock, OR - 32° F, 93% humidity, wind - zero mph out of the north......very cold, crystal, clear, blue skies today with a forecast high of 51° F....there is frost on the ground, and on the VW. I'm up early because today is the day I fly back to SoCal to finish my dental work. My flight out of Portland departs at 1:25 pm, and it is just shy of a 3 hour drive. I'll drive down to Los Algodones Tuesday morning, and fly back to Portland Wednesday morning.....I'm tired already, just thinking about it.
On this date in 2014 we were visiting Wupatki National Monument just north of Flagstaff, AZ off US-89.....↴
7 years ago? That cannot be possible.....lol
I ended up working only one hour Sunday.....the park was pretty full, and there was not much to do. That was okay with me, because the north wind was blowing, and it was very cold outside. TLE worked her two hour shift from 11 am to 1 pm.
The final round of the Valero Texas Open (San Antonio, TX) was on so I spent most of the afternoon watching Jordan Spieth win his first golf tournament in almost four years. This is the first time I've seen him play four good rounds in succession in a long time. He finished at 18 under par, just two strokes ahead of the nearest competitor.
Since I am going to be gone for 3 days I spent time giving TLE a refresher course on how to deploy, and use our Honda 2000 generator in the very unlikely case there is a power failure. The weather forecast looks good for the next 5 days, so I do not think there will be a problem. In the 6 months we have been here we've lost power two, or three times. One time it was for 5, or 6 hours, but the other two were short lived. She is a quick study, and I feel confident she will rise to the occasion should the need arise.
The winds, which continued into the evening, cleared the skies just enough to provide us with a decent sunset.......
